Pierka

Pierka lay on the shore of the Weyr lake. She'd just finished bathing
her lifemate and after oiling her hide Liddith had taken off to the
heights to show off her glistening hide to anyone who happened to be
around.

The young greenrider had a secret she was still holding very close and
cherished whenever she could manage to find a few moments. Her eyes
were closed as she pictured E'ron's eyes and his touch in her mind.
She was mesmerizing herself with thoughts of their meeting tonight and
didn't hear anything around her at all.

N'vanik wasn't looking where he was going and almost tripped over
Pierka. Skidding to a stop, he kicked a bit of sand onto her stomach.
"Shards, sorry."

"What the..." she exclaimed as she was pelted with sand. She sat up
squintinginto the sun at the shadow looming over her. She brushed the
sand from her clothing, then shading her eyes looked up again. Pierka
squealed and scrambled to her feet. "Weyrleader!  Sorry for that...
um."

"Don't worry, my fault. I wasn't paying attention."

That didn't really make her feel any better in the moment. "I was
just... uh... daydreaming."

He arched any eyebrow. "About what?"

Poor Pierka's complexion didn't hide anything and she flushed red as
the worst sunburn.  "I... " she blinked. Hands rose to her cheeks as
the heat registered. "A rider," her voice rose and she squeaked, she
actually squeaked! If there were a way for her to crawl under a rock
she would have.

N'vanik saw her embarrassment and couldn't resist. "A fellow
clutchmate? Or someone else?"

She was caught like a wher in torchlight. Blinking rapidly "S-someone
else," she breathed. She wanted to run and hide, _be_ anywhere but
here. How could he possibly know what she'd done for the first time
last night?

"Anyone I might know?"

"He's not in your wing Weyrleader," she practically whispered.

He glanced to to the side to hide a little smile. "I still might know
him. A bronzerider, maybe?"

She was startled by his suggestion and blurted out, "Shards no!" Then
her hand slapped over her mouth and her eyes widened even more. "Sorry
sir. I mean.. no, sir," she murmured with her eyes closed.

"A brown or a blue, then. Couldn't be a greenrider, at least I hope
not." He chuckled. The girl's face was so red!

"B-b-blue,"  **oh Faranth E'ron's going to kill me.**

"Ah, a bluerider. I hear they're fun, although I lack the personal
experience to prove it." He winked.

She let out a nervous chuckle then made a face. "I'm... uh. Yes," a
shy smiled broke out at the wink.

"So you've had some experience?" Probably recently, since she was
acting so shy about it.

"A little," **like once** she couldn't tell him that but somehow he
was finding it all out anyway.

"Good for you. Senior weyrlings need the experience, and if you're
daydreaming about him, that means you weren't _just_ doing it for the
experience."

"Really," her eyes flicked to his. "Is that good?"

He nodded. "Many people, especially ones raised outside a Weyr, want
their first experience of sex to be special, so they'd want to have it
with someone they care about."

That made her almost sag in relief. Here she'd been keeping it all a
secret thinking it wasn't normal to feel the way she did about E'ron
and now the Weyrleader himself had told her it was. "Yes," she said.
"I did want it to be special."  Then it dawned on her that someday
Liddith would rise and this tall **and handsome** man's life mate
might catch her.

}:Only if he's very fast.:{

A flush crept up her cheeks as a flash of imagination had his hands on
her like E'ron's had been. It made her suddenly shy again. "I... uh...
I, need to go if that's ok," she couldn't look at him without staring
so instead she looked at his boots and shuffled her feet and began to
stumble away. "Thank you," she called in a choked voice.
