Description: Aftermath of Cyradis' meeting with the Weyrleader and Headwoman
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 7, day 18 of Turn 6
Notes: Follows: "That Went Well"
Mentioned: N'vanik, Qorri, Janani
She had to get hold of herself and calm down but the whole meeting
with N'vanik and Qorri whirled around in her mind and seemed to keep
bringing her back to the starting point. She'd taken refuge in her
weyr.
Panitath hissed and drove off the dragons around her then launched
with a snarl }:I come:{ she told hers.
**I'm sorry love, I'll be fine.** She said it even though she didn't
really think it was true. She went to the ledge to meet her lifemate
and try to calm her down.
}:She is angry,:{ commented Donneth.
**Who?** asked his rider, even as he worked on a new buckle for their
straps.
}:Panitath and her rider,:{ the brown explained. }:I'm not sure why:{
**Will you ask them if they are okay?**
}:Donneth's wishes to know if you're alright:{ Panitath queried her rider.
Cyradis leaned against her beautiful gold drawing comfort just from
her presence and unconditional love. They'd been through so much
together already and this whole situation was monumentally unfair.
Janai was gone. Traelyn was gone. But their reaction was to tie _her_
hands. **Ask him to come,** she told Panitath. **I need someone to
talk to about this.** She hoped he could help her get through this
whole farce of a leadership change.
}:She wants to see you,:{ Donneth told his rider. }:Panitath, she sounds
upset.:{
**Tell them I'm coming,** he assured the brown. **I won't be long.**
And it wasn't long before he found the pair. "Are you two all right?" he
asked.
Still fuming Cyradis turned toward the brown rider but the concern in
his eyes melted her ire. She put a hand to her forehead. "I'm so sorry
K'deren," she whispered then walked straight into his arms and wrapped
hers around his waist. "I tried to keep it out of my link but she
picked up on it."
His arms went around her, comforting her as best he could. "What happened?"
he asked after a moment or two.
She closed her eyes and listened to his heart for just a moment before
she lifted her face to look up at him. Shaking her head she just said
"N'vanik."
"What did he do?" K'deren had never had a problem with the Weyrleader
himself, but he knew of others who disliked his style, or didn't get on. It
seemed to him that he was a person with a personality that was either loved
or hated, but he was a damn good leader in fall, and the Weyr knew that.
"Janani's gone," she said simply. Then she took at deep breath,
"Shards he's angry."
"I heard she left," K'deren said simply. "He's a damn good leader, but he
has a sharding abrasive personality."
"Yeah, tell me about it," she shook her head an let go of him to sit
at her table. "He and Qorri told me basically that about the only
thing they want me to do is lead the wing."
"They what?" The look on K'deren's face was a mirror for his thoughts. How
could they do that, even as a 'second she should have more responsibility
around the Weyr.
"They told me that Qorri will be handling all the domestic duties and
I'm _only_ to lead the wing. Nothing else unless Panitath rises
first." She still wanted to break something in her frustration. "He
flat out told me he didn't trust me. Like he figured I was going to
follow Traelyn or Janani out the door." She turned hurt eyes toward
the brown rider. "He isn't giving me a sharding chance." She didn't
add the Headwoman's comments about _if_ Panitath rose first, like she
didn't understand those consequences. It had happened to her before
and was one of the reasons she'd transferred.
No matter how they tried to sweet coat it... she was nothing more than
a figure head. She put her head in her hands and pushed the heels into
her eyes. She was _not_ going to cry.
K'deren walked around and put his arms around her. "Do you want me to talk
to them?" he asked. "It is not fair."
That offer endeared him to her. Trust a man to try and 'fix'
something. Her hands rose to where his arms circled her and she looked
up. "It's totally not fair," she said. "I don't want you to get in
trouble too. But thank you." She stood again and turned toward him.
This time she laid her head against his chest when her arms went
around his waist. "This helps," she sighed.
"Then let me do what I can to help," he insisted. "You shouldn't be denied
this chance to show them what you can do."
"He said he doesn't trust me. So, I have to find a way to show him he
can, at least until Panitath rises." She'd seen the Weyr records and
knew when her gold was due. It was only a few months and certainly
before either Elleth who had just gone up or Ikoladith. "Then we'll
see who the Weyrleaders are." Her arms tightened. "And you _are_
helping."
"Then you need to be the best sharding leader of that wing until Panitath's
rising makes it yours."
"I will be," she vowed.
