Description: Nikornath upsets Orlaith and Rhosyn has to deal with the fallout.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 6, day 4 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: Zackariath, Kenaranth
Walking out onto her ledge, she stretched her wings. Once she was ready, she headed up onto the Rim, near the Star Stones. Taking her usual perch, the big queen raised her head up to the sun and greeted the day. Her blue
whirling eyes looked down into the bowl, further to the beach and the waves
crashing against the sand and cliffs, and then to the other dragons waking.
}:Nikornath are you awake?:{
}:I am now,:{ the bronze had been slumbering, and probably much to Orlaith's disgust, he was with the green ridden by his rider's weyrmate.
Ever since whatever had happened with the senior queen at Dolphin Cove,
Orlaith had made it a habit to always start the day sitting on the Star
Stones so the others would see her upon their awakening. It was almost to remind them that she was still there and hadn't left them. }:The sun is glorious this morning:{ she said as if to say he should get himself up to see it.
}:So,:{ came the response. The bronze would really prefer to sleep a little
longer on this morning.
}:What do you mean so?:{ And there was the signal he was getting into
dangerous territory. Orlaith was not used to being ignored or brushed off,
especially by the male she'd deigned to choose as her mate.
}:So it is a good day, but also early.:{
}:Come see the sun and then you can go back to sleep:{ Why he hadn't gotten
to bed like she had the queen didn't know. That was bad planning. What if
something had happened?
}:Some of us prefer to sleep a little later,:{ commented the bronze.
}:Well then, I bet Kenaranth isn't somewhere lazying around:{ She snorted,
intending to find herself a willing partner. }:Or perhaps Zackariath might
like to see the sun with me:{
}:Maybe they will,:{ agreed Nikornath as he snuggled closer to Ellianith.
Making up her mind to keep him away from her ledge, she finished her
sungazing after some time and headed to greet her rider. Rhosyn recognized
the undercurrent of upset in her queen and wondered what had happened.
It didn't help that Orlaith suddenly became very demanding.
}:I itch:{ That brought about an oiling that took some time. When she was
done, she put her things away.
**Why don't you go see about some of the injured dragons?** the goldrider
offered, trying to get her mind on something else, away from whatever was
bothering her.
}:I am going to rest today. I will be on my couch:{ the gold announced
before going to the stone edifice that was strewn with furs and other comfortable things for her. Curling up, she hid her eyes behind a wing.
Slightly concerned, Rhosyn went down to breakfast. Sitting down by K'sedel
as she peeled her fruit, she kept thinking about it. "Something's wrong,"
she said softly, not wanting anyone else to hear.
"Wrong?"
"Orlaith is acting funny and I don't know why." The gold wasn't sick. Rhosyn would feel that through their bond.
"Has Nikornath said anything?"
"What do you mean?" Rhosyn certainly couldn't ask him if he had. "She won't
come out of the weyr and it was one thing after another all morning."
"He was muttering about being disturbed earlier, so I wonder if she's taken
something he said the wrong way."
"Oh." Thinking about that, she tried again. **What's going on? Did Nikornath upset you?**
Orlaith really didn't want to share since a part of her thought she was
being silly. Then again, she was Orlaith for Faranth's sake and if Nikornath was her mate, he should treat her nicely. Ignoring her was unacceptable. }:That lazy excuse for a bronze isn't important enough to upset me:{
Surprised, Rhosyn leaned back in her seat. Looking over at K'sedel, she
hardly knew what to say for a minute. "I'd say that's a good guess."
"I wouldn't worry, he just likes to sleep a little later than most. Gave us endless trouble as weyrlings, but got us through night training with no
problems. Just remind her that he will always be there for her."
"Honestly, I think he might have to apologize." Hopefully her queen's
behavior wouldn't last long, though. Rhosyn was very unsure of a pouty
Orlaith.
"If he remembers," joked K'sedel. "Maybe he can teach her that he just
likes another half candlemark or so to snooze."
"He better do something or from the looks of things he isn't allowed on
the ledge." She nodded, hoping Orlaith wouldn't continue like this for long. **Do this, do that, I need that** was not Rhosyn's idea of a good day.
"Don't worry, he'll know that he's in her bad books."
"Yeah it's just no fun having an upset, angry dragon in your head.
Especially when they start taking their feelings out on you." She
finished her breakfast and got up. "I hope he fixes it, for my sake."
"He will," K'sedel assured her. "He will."
