R'enh

R'enh

Orlaith had done well, making Rhosyn and the rest of River Bluff
happy. She would keep her Weyr together, regardless of the silver
menace that thought it could defeat them. Dressed in a more sedate
dress than last time, she was still easy to see in Weyr colors. Rhosyn
was comfortable, nonetheless. Sitting at her place on the dais above
everyone, she was busily eating a piece of cake. Faranth bless the
Headwoman.

R'enh looked over to the Weyrleader's dais. It was very similar to the
place he'd sat at another Weyr in another time with the very same
woman. Today she looked lovely, every inch the Weyrwoman in charge of
her domain. Soon he would be sitting next to Meledei for another
hatching but at Dolphin Cove. He smiled down at the top of her head
where she sat next to him. With Elleth heavy with eggs he'd served as
her escort to the hatching.

He felt more than a little pride in fact that his lifemate had once
again caught gold. Mnoranth was ambitious as was his rider. He had no
doubt their time would come and he was patient. In the meantime he was
willing to learn from the best. That was one of the reason's he'd
sought out the transfer to Dolphin Cove. Then his gaze lifted back to
the dais. He smiled and tipped his chin to Rhosyn when she looked his
way.

When her eyes caught his, there was a question in them. She pointed to
the empty chair on her other side. Rhosyn recognized Meledei, but didn't
think anything of the Wingsecond sitting with the young goldrider.

His eyes crinkled and he nodded. Then he leaned over and told Meledei
he was going to talk to Rhosyn for a bit and then he'd be back for a
dance. Getting up from his seat he walked over to the River Bluff
Weyrwoman. "How are you this evening?"

"I'm well and you?" She was glad to see him here. That meant he wasn't
staying over at Dolphin Cove any longer. "Did you get some food?"

"I'm good," he didn't state the obvious that Janani or rather
Angdelouth seemed to be over her jealousy. At least he hadn't been
called back to the Dolphin Cove Weyrwoman's weyr for several sevendays.
He wasn't going to look into that very closely since it was probably
better that way.

"I did," he smiled. "My compliments to your cooks, it is a great
spread. I'm sure you had some input in that." He figured she must have
since there had been a dish of pastry encasing baked packtail with an
herbed sauce that had always been one of his favorites.

"Of course I did. I picked the wine too," she said matter of factly. "Are you
going to dance?" She looked hopeful.

He smiled and his blue eyes twinkled. "Might I have the honor?" He
held out his hand.

Smiling, she got up and put her hand in his, ready to be led to the floor.
Try as she might not to think about it, she missed him. "You look nice."

He lifted her hand to help her down the steps of the dais and onto the
floor. He'd never minded her predilection for short dresses. All the
better to see her lovely legs. "So do you," he said with an answering
smile and led her into a lively two-step.

It was easy to keep up with him, but it was still enjoyable. "So what's
been going on since I saw you last?"

"Well,' he smiled. "I'm sure you've heard, Mnoranth has won gold again."

"Mmm the young one. I'm sure he's proud of himself." Rhosyn had only met
Meledei a few times, so she didn't judge her just yet. It meant more eggs on
Dolphin Cove's sands, which N'vanik would be happy about.

"I think you'd like her," he smiled and swooped them into a twirl.

"Aye well, she isn't my responsibility. I hope Janani treats her well, though."
After the other goldrider's recent behavior, Rhosyn wondered if she could stand
competing with a junior coming up.

"I think they get along well enough." He smiled and didn't add that he
wasn't in all that good standing with the Weyrwoman at the moment
himself. Frankly, he was completely confused by Janani.

Rhosyn he understood. She was unique and fun to be around. At least he
wasn't grounded any longer and could visit his friend if he wanted to.
He spun her away and pulled her back with a grin as the music ended.

"Yeah, she tried the same thing with N'vanik, you know." She was still
thinking about that one.

He shrugged. It didn't surprise him. The Janani he'd met had been
unhappy with the situation she found herself in. "I really don't know.
N'vanik and I usually keep to wing business."

He didn't really want to compete with the Weyrleader for the
affections of either of the Weyrwomen involved in their little
triangle. That would just put him right back into the situation he'd
been in before he left Vista Point.

R'enh lifted her hand and brought it to his lips. "Thank you for the
dance Weyrwoman."

"You're welcome. And listen, don't be a stranger anymore. And if things..
well you can always come here." As much as she could, she would provide
him protection and she wanted him to know that. There were few Rhosyn
considered family and those few..she'd do anything for.

"I won't forget that," he said and meant every word. He did want to
make it on his own merits and he knew that he and Mnoranth could do
just that. He pressed her fingers as he released her back to her
chair.
