Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 5, day 4 of Turn 6

Orlaith had let her know when Loseth arrived. She had to sit with
K'sedel in the stands and dance with him first, but after that, Rhosyn
could do as she wished. Her eyes searched the crowd for the Dolphin
Cove Weyrleader. To most, it might have been obvious what she was
doing when she did see him and a smile immediately came across her
face. She was dressed like a respectable Weyrwoman this time, the need
to impress him no longer so urgent as things had progressed.
"Congratulations on another fine Hatching," N'vanik said with a smile.
He missed her other dress, but she still looked beautiful in this one.
"MM more weyrlings for the Weyr." Coming up to him, she grabbed some
cheese from a passing tray and promptly put it into her mouth. "And
you'll be having some in a few months' time as well."
He nodded. "Meledei's first Clutch." She was young, but she was level
headed. He was confident Meledei would handle the experience well.
Her hands went to his tunic, straightening the collar just slightly. "Mnoranth is a good sire. They'll be good eggs. You look very nice." She let her hands come down, even if she still had that need to touch him he always caused.
"So do you." He caught her hand and brought it to his lips. "Want to
dance?" It would trigger Janani's jealousy, but he wasn't going to
avoid Rhosyn just because his Weyrwoman was watching.
"Of course I do," she answered easily, waiting for him to lead her. The
memory of that last dance came to her mind and she smiled.
N'vanik took her out onto the dance floor. The harpers were in the
middle of a slow song, some couples dancing close while others looked
a little awkward. Visiting holders maybe? N'vanik slipped an arm
around Rhosyn's waist. "I wonder how much gossip we'll start this
time."
"Honestly, it's not gossip if it's true." Adjusting herself so that her head rested on his chest, the goldrider ignored the rest of the crowd. "I wish I'd have let you have that dance at Vista Point, the Weyrwoman be damned."
He smiled. "I wonder what would have happened if you did."
"Could have been several things...though it might have meant you not
transferring and therefore not becoming a Weyrleader." Maybes and ifs
weren't good territory so she didn't dwell on it for long.
"Then again it might have changed my attitude about goldriders and I
might have ended up Weyrleader sooner."
"With her? I wouldn't wish that on anyone." She grimaced with distaste.
He chuckled. "Or at another Weyr."
"You would have left me?" Her eyes looked into his and there was a bit of
hurt there that she didn't try to hide.
Oops. This had taken a turn he didn't expect. "We could've left together."
"Maybe. Harder for junior golds to transfer, though. I was good to finally
leave when I did. I think that was mainly because she gave up after twenty
or so turns." Rhosyn could wear anyone down eventually.
"I'm surprised she put up with you for that long," he teased.
"Between you and me, I was too really." She shrugged. "Now she'll have to
find someone else to drag her around when she gets too old to fly. It won't be me. No sir."
"You're too busy running your own Weyr." So was he, and some days he
still woke up wondering how that happened.
"MMmm I have good help though." Rhosyn thought about that for a moment.
"So after this thing's over, are you going home or what?"
His hand slid a little lower on her waist. "That depends on if I get
any invitations to stay later."
"Hmm.. I may not be entirely coherent by the end of the night so I think
you should stay and make sure I make it to bed hm?" She'd already had
a goodly bit of wine and it was *her* hatching after all.
"Then I'll make it my duty to make sure you get to bed safely." He
bent to kiss the soft spot under her ear. It might cause problems with
Janani, but he'd already warned her he wasn't going to stop seeing Rhosyn.
