After having delivered the letter to D'cal, Naton had made his way
into the Dining Cavern to see if he could find himself something to
eat. Now, he wasn't one to just step in line and see if he could get a
free meal, but to go and offer marks for it to some random kitchen
worker seemed a bit silly as well. As such he was more than thrilled
when he happened to catch a glimpse of a woman with Headwoman's knots.
Following her for a moment, he tried to assess if she was busy with
some order of business, or if she could be approached.

Qorri was talking to one of her drudges. Pointing out some of the
places around the Cavern that needed to be scrubbed, she turned to
grab herself a cup of juice. Sipping, she considered whether or not to
get herself some bread and meat.

When the lady took a cup of juice, seemingly done talking to the
drudge, Naton stepped forward with a wide smile. "Excuse me, Ma'am,
I'm Senior Journeyman Naton from the Dolphin Hall, can I take up but a
moment of your time?"

She turned to face the man speaking to her. Qorri didn't recognize
this one. "Aye then."

"I came to the Weyr to bring a letter I was entrusted to give to a
rider here. Now that I'm here, I would like to explore the place a bit
more, but I'm growing a bit peckish." The man paused for a moment,
smiling apologetically. "I was wondering if I could use a meal here. I
have marks on me to pay for it."

"You aren't from here, are you?" she asked as her eyes narrowed on him.

"No, I'm from the Dolphin Hall," Naton said, getting a little nervous
under the woman's gaze. Hadn't he just said that? He couldn't quite
remember. Suddenly the journeyman was wondering if asking the
Headwoman had been the way to go.

"A recent arrival I'm guessing since you don't know how things work."
Qorri sighed, knowing it wasn't the poor man's fault. Jylanya or
someone should have explained to him. "We provide the dolphin hall
with the supplies they need since they aren't beholden to a major
Hold. In turn, they provide the Weyr with services we need. While I
don't make it a habit of feeding their crafters, I will provide you
all meals upon occasion. You don't have to ask."

Realizing she was probably doing what the Weyrleader called the 'scary
face', Qorri tried to put a smile on for the journeyman's benefit. "So
where did you come from hm?"

Naton relaxed a little at the smile, but couldn't shake the
nervousness entirely. Qorri reminded him somewhat of the Headwoman at
his old Hall and she had left quite an impression on him. "Ah, that
sounds like a fair arrangement," Naton said with a brave attempt at a
smile. "I came from the Northern Dolphin Hall. Transferred here little
over a sevenday ago."

"Ah well then you've a lot to learn." Qorri had never been north but
she had heard stories. "You've a fairly new Hallmaster and a new
headwoman. Both of them are competent, though they are learning. And
you have women at
your hall." She was sure the man might have noticed this by now, but
it was something to note.

"Yes, I have met them," Naton said with a smile, starting to warm up a
little. While she had been strict, his old Headwoman had been fair as
well. Perhaps Qorri was the same? "I have all the confidence they are
well suited for the job." When Qorri mentioned the women at his hall,
he grinned. "I'm not sure if I would have transferred if there weren't
any."

He was much too old for her liking, but good fortune to him. "Looks
like I have something to see to." Out of the corner of her eye she saw
a man coming her way. "Go on and eat before you go back to your Hall,
journeyman."

"Thank you, Ma'am," Naton said with a smile, nodding politely before
turning towards where the food was being served. He could really use a
good meal before he went off on his next search.
