R'enh

R'enh

Mnoranth glided toward the weyr lake. }:Elleth is bathing:{

**Oh is that the real reason you wanted to come out here,** chuckled
his lifemate.

}:She's lovely when she's freshly bathed and oiled:{

"Oh and you're handsome too I suppose."

}:One hopes she would think so,:{ the large bronze rumbled.

So it was that R'enh was laughing when he slid from his lifemate's
neck with the supplies. He walked over to where Meledei sat on a rock
to watch as the candidates did what she couldn't do yet.

"How's the leg?"

"Better. I'm down to one crutch now." Meledei's hands flicked toward
the crutch in question and, indeed, its twin was missing and only one
hole accompanied the foot prints that made their way through the sand.
"I shouldn't be burdened with that for too much longer, and as soon as
I'm off completely, I should be able to fly Thread again.

"That's great!" He set his back against the rock near her and looked
out toward the water while his lifemate soaked. "I know you are
feeling confined but don't push too hard! You had us all worried there
for a bit."

"My life wasn't really in danger, it's just an injury." Meledei
pointed out - one that could have been so much worse than it was. Yes,
she was down and out for a while, but she wasn't incapacitated and it
wasn't permanent.

"Nevertheless, your danger was reflected In Elleth and her emotions
caused much concern amongst the other dragons. But you know his..." He
held up his hand. He didn't want to seem to lecture her. It wasn't his
place by any stretch. But Mnoranth _had_ been concerned about the gold
and her rider.

"Are you done?" Meledei's mouth turned up in a half smile. "You're
not the only one to tell me that." She shook her head. "Anyway, want
to help me bathe Elleth?" Help was definitely appreciated more now
with her injury.

"Yes, yes," he said with a placating gesture. "I'm sorry, I should
have realized and kept my nose out of it." He looked toward where the
apprentices were hard at work bathing the queen. "Sure I can help if
you want." He smiled "Mnoranth can wait a little. He just had a bath
yesterday."

"He should be good til tomorrow at least then!" Meledei laughed. She
leaned over to pluck a cloth from the bucket she'd brought and tossed
it over. "At least Elleth's not quite as much dragon to wash!"

R'enh tilted his head, "Yes, well he likes the water so I get demands
for baths almost daily." He caught the cloth and smiled at her. "She's
beautiful," he said as he walked toward the lovely gold. "Any special
places need attention?"

"Kind of reminds me of K'hetah's lifemate, who'd probably live in the
water if you let him." Meledei reached up to scratch her gold. "Thank
you, I think so too, though I'm biased. No, she just needs a good
scrubbing and oiling - and I don't mind the help!"

He chuckled and picked up the brush and nodded. Loeth was famous for
his love of the water and playing with dolphins. He began scrubbing
the beautiful gold hide thoroughly from nose to tail.

"Hey," he called up to her rider. "When are we going to start those
dancing lessons? Soon as you're well?"

"As soon as I'm off these crutches, though I'll likely have a limp."
Meledei grinned. "If you can put up with that!"

He knew it was good to push a person a little when they were injured.
It gave them tangible goals and they recovered faster. Of course as a
Wingsecond it was his job to keep his riders in condition and well
trained. Fitness for duty was hard to work back when a person had been
laid up for a few weeks.

"I can," he assured her with a grin.
