Description: R'enh takes Meledei back to the infirmary.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 18 of Turn 6
Meledei leaned her head against R'enh's shoulder as he carried her away
from the hustle and bustle of the feast. It was still going strong,
the sound of music wafting after them even when they were halfway to
the infirmary. She was tired, a lot more tired than she expected she'd
be, especially since she'd done little of anything but sit. She was
also glad she'd been able to make that hatching. She wouldn't have
liked to have missed. The feast had been the icing on the cake, glad
she made it but if she'd had to choose, she would have chosen the
hatching.
Now she was sore though not as bad as she had been given some fellis to
take when needed and had done so a little before R'enh had come to take
her back. It was starting to take effect, both in dulling the pain and
in causing her to be sleepy. "Thanks R'enh." She murmured even as she
used his shoulder as a pillow.
He'd let her stay too long and knew he was going to catch it from the
big healer. "Don't worry about it Meledei." He could tell she was
exhausted and he wanted to lift her spirits a little. "We'll dance and
the next one," he chuckled.
"Promise?" Meledei smiled a little, her cheek shifting against his
shoulder. "It was weird not dancing, but I'm glad I was able to at
least go and see the hatching and chat with people for a while." She
was exhausted, but honestly, she didn't think she would have done much
differently.
"Absolutely" he replied with a smile. "Your lifemate's hatching feast
will be coming up soon enough. Then you'll be the center of
attention."
"And I should be able to dance by then." Meledei had regretted that
the most, not getting to dance, especially with the weyrlings who had
Impressed.
"I'm sure you will," he smiled as they finally reached the infirmary
and went inside. Healers approached to help but he simply said "I've
got her." He took her to her bed and laid her gently down.
Meledei let out a rush of air as she was finally settled back into her
bed. The pain was still there, throbbing, but slowly that fellis was
taking effect as it lessened in intensity- in more ways than one.
"Guess I should get some sleep, huh?" She murmured, her eyes already
half closing.
He bent over her and kissed her forehead before pulling up the light
covering. "Yes, but you're going to wrinkle that pretty dress if you
sleep in it. Do you need help changing? I can get someone for you if
you'd like."
"I'm just going to sleep in it. I'm too tired to care." Meledei was
completely drained and all she wanted to do was lie back and sleep,
sleep, sleep. "Good night R'enh. And thanks again."
He stood up straight and looked down at her. Poor girl, completely
exhausted. He shook his head as he walked toward the door. She was
brave though, he'd give her that. There was no doubt in his mind that
Elleth had chosen well.
