R'enh

R'enh

She had seen him at the hatching, but not since. Curious as to how he
was doing and aching for a chat, Rhosyn found herself wanting R'enh
to visit. Having finished her duties for the day, she watched it get dark
as she walked out onto her weyr ledge, looking up at the sky. **Have
Mnoranth see if his will come**

}:Mnoranth, mine would like to visit with yours. She asks him to come
when he can:{

}:Orlaith's wishes you to visit mine.:{ R'enh put down the book he was
reading and marked his place. **Well then we must go of course. Please
tell her we'll be there shortly.

}:We come lovely one.:{ sent the big bronze. R'enh shrugged on his
jacket over the light shirt he wore and pulled on his boots. In a
moment he'd pulled his straps off the hook and settled them quickly in
place. Once airborne it was only a few moments before he appeared over
River Bluff Weyr. Mnoranth announced them to the watchdragon and they
spiraled slowly toward the weyr Orlaith had pictured for them. He crooned
to her as R'enh slid from his back with a smile.

The big gold made room so she could be properly admired. Unlike her rider,
Orlaith never got too hot. It took a lot of heat to keep her big bulk warm.
}:She is inside:{

Rhosyn had set up her sitting room with some klah, bread, and cheese. She
was curled up in a chair, drinking slowly. Hearing him, she lifted up.

R'enh smiled at the almost inaudible rumble Mnoranth made in the back
of his throat as he greeted the gold. **Yes she is still as beautiful
as we remember.** He bowed to her before making his way inside. "Hello
beautiful," he said with a smile.

"Come in, come in. Sit." She gestured to the empty chairs and the food and
drink. "Tell me, what have you been doing since I saw you last?" She wiggled her toes as she reached for a piece of cheese.

He pulled off his jacket and draped it over the back of the chair
before he sat. Then he picked up a glass and poured some wine. "I
guess you could say I've been trying to live up to my own hype." He
smiled and drank. He'd been a very cocky young bronzerider and made
some crazy boasts that had followed him around a long time.
"Eventually, I realized that I wasn't going to be able to give my best
at Vista Point." He shrugged, then he reached out and touched her
knee. "I'm glad you got away too."

"What did they do...after I left?" She was almost afraid to ask, though R'enh hadn't gotten into as much trouble as she had, that she knew of.

He shook his head. To him it was just impossible to go through all the
details, there were so many. "For me?" He snorted. "Rash decisions led
me into trouble with my wingleader. I came to realize I wasn't going
to be allowed to progress there." Whether or not his relationship with
Rhosyn had contributed to their perceptions back at Vista Point or not
he refused to speculate. She and he had been friends while they'd been
there, no matter what else had happened. "The next goldrider got
similar treatment though," he added. "I don't think she had your resilience."

"Ah, a shame that. Lenala is one of my juniors now. She impressed with
you, if I remember right?" Rhosyn digested what he said, considering.
"She's not the sharpest tool in the shed, though, that one." The Weyrwoman
sighed, wishing for Faranth to send her a gold egg to impress to someone
she could use. "I wonder just what the next clutch will bring."

"A lovely box of rocks that one," he smiled. "You look like you're thriving
here though."

"Aye, I've got her and a young one. I don't know if she's promising or not.
We'll see what the future will bring. I'd like to have a full complement of
breeding golds to even out the Weyr." She thought about how much she had
settled into River Bluff and how it had changed. "There is one, along with
Lenala, that I'd like to be rid of. Other than that, I do what I like and they don't bother me."

"Senior Weyrwoman becomes you." He smiled into her eyes. He'd never
been one for idle flattery and she'd always been honest and direct at
least in his experience. They shared a clutch and a few months of
close ties. But more than that, amidst the storms of the politics of
Vista Point, they'd become friends. "I think you've found your niche.
I hope I've found mine."

"I wouldn't be lying if I said I hope you beat him next time around, but I
don't want his feelings hurt either." She shrugged, wondering if N'vanik
would haul Talryne over to River Bluff if it did happen. "As it is, though,
I feel better knowing he has someone good to lean on. Me, I was never
really a good leaner, so this does work better."

He chuckled, so that was the way the wind blew. "I'm sure Mnoranth
wouldn't mind in the least being a father again." He wasn't going to
try and make any plans in that direction...yet. "N'vanik is a good
Weyrleader. He has some great ideas. I've learned some things from
him. Not like those hide bound leaders still at Vista Point."

"Well the dragons choose and they did manage to hatch Orlaith, for which
I will always be grateful. And they did feed me when I had nowhere else to
go." That was the Headwoman, though, who Rhosyn would always miss. She
also thought of her fostermother from time to time.

"Yes they did and a beautiful queen she is too." He knew he was
grateful as well but that didn't mean he had to stay where he was
obviously sand in the craw of the local leaders. "So how are you and
N'vanik doing?"

"He asked me to come visit him this time around. It'll be a first, but
apparently Janani is supposed to be fine with it." She shrugged. "So
you may see Orlaith come your way soon. I don't know how that's
going to work exactly with Talryne in his weyr, but anyway."

He gave her an evil grin. "Well if three is too much for you, you can
always come by _my_ weyr. You _know_ I wouldn't turn you out." Then he
turned a little serious holding up his hands to stave off reprisal.
"I'm always your friend Rhosyn, first and foremost. I hope you get
what you want out of it."

"After the mess at the Hatching, though, I don't know if I should be
coming back to your Weyr for awhile eh?" She grinned, knowing the
rumors were probably already flying again.

He grinned. "Yes well, and I don't want to cause any waves with
N'vanik either."

"Ah well such is life. So are you in a hurry to go back or..." Rhosyn liked
to cuddle and if he could cuddle with Janani or whatever else he was doing,
then she could cuddle with R'enh.

"I'm in no rush," he said "Have something in mind?" Dark blue eyes
twinkled at her.

"I know you're sleepy..." She got up and pulled him out of her sitting room. "Come on and you can leave when you need to."

He more than willingly followed her into the bedroom and quickly undressing
slipped under the light covers of her ample bed. "Comfortable," he murmured. "Come here beautiful," he added, opening his arms.

She yawned and curled up, ready to take a nap. "Being Weyrwoman has its
benefits you know."
