Description: Jaylene and Jayonne come to visit Im're and see how he's doing
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 21 of Turn 6
Jaylene scanned the beds, looking for a certain carrot topped lad.
When she saw the boy, she nudged her brother. "Jay, over there." The
two walked over to the bed that housed the young bluerider. "Heya
lovely," she murrmered, when they got to his bed, and leaned down to
give him a kiss on the cheek.
"Hi, Jaylene and Jayonne," Im're was delighted to see them. Any
interuption to the tenious infirmary routine was welcome. Although it
wasn't as bad now that the healers actually allowed him to get up from
the bed and walk around, carefully.
Jayonne smiled and clasped the boy's hand before sitting in a chair
close by, letting his sister have the seat closest to Im're. He put a
big package of sweets on the bed for the boy.
"Uetia and the rest of the wing got together and beg, battered or
stole for all those sweets," Jaylene teased him.
"Aw, thank's," Im're said. He took a one and let the bag go around.
The siblings both took a small piece, leaving the good stuff for
Im're. "More people wanted to come but we weren't sure how up to
company you were," Jaylene explained. "So how are you? How's Gormth
doing?"
"We are both on the mend. I'm actually allowed up from the bed," Im're
told them. "Gormth isn't moving around yet, his wound is deeper, so
he'll take longer to heal. And then we will go to the Queen's wing."
"You're allowed up? Ah, we'll have to get you outside and bring you a
picnic soon." Jayonne thought on that and decided if Im're was up for
it, he would make it happen soon, very soon. He could even see if his
mum was up for playing a bit. The three of them could make a merry
little band for the boy.
"Yes, like to the toilet and back," Im're snorted. "Which is definite
improvement for peeing into a bottle."
"I would have thought you boys would love peeing in a bottle," Jaylene
snorted. "Never having to get up out of bed and all that." She, for
one, didn't miss it a bit, having to struggle down the hallway outside
her old weyr, to get to the toliets in the morning.
Jayonne wasn't about to give up on the picnic idea. "If me and J'zen
or some of the boys carry you, you_could_go outside, right?"
"Sure. The healers told me that in sevenday or so they'll give me a
crutches and then start exercising that leg. The way they say it made
it sound painful," Im're said.
"Great! Want a picnic then?"
"You bet I do," Im're said. At least he would have something to expect for.
"Brilliant!" Already Jayonne was planning how to organize it and who
to ask. "Wonder if Gormth would be okay enough to come outside as
well." It'd be nice to bring the young blue in on the fun too.
"That had to be asked from the dragonhealers," Im're said him. He
looked Jaylene and turned suddenly serious. "Jaylene, I haven't
properly thanked you. You saved our lives. If you haven't been
there..." he shuddered. Jaylene and Reanth had stopped their fall. She
had talked to him and kept him consious when Gormth had been so
paniced he might have etweened. He owed her his and Gormth life. He
wondered how he would ever be able to repay her.
"We are indept to you."
"It's nothing," she murrmered, ducking her head down and hiding in her hair.
Jayonne knew that as a sign she was crying and reached over to rub her
back. In a quiet voice, he told Im're, "two turns ago we lost our
brother in sort of the same way as you were injured. So this is hard.
Really hard. But you're alive and that's all that matters." He
smiled at the boy and grasped his good hand. The Weyr would have been
a lesser place without Im're's curious face in it.
"I'm sorry to hear that, I didn't know," Im're said softly.
"It's okay," Jaylene muttered, wiping her face and smiling at the boy.
He had enough to worry about, he didn't need their grief as well.
"Just you get better..that's the only dept you have to fill for me!"
"Don't worry, I intent to be around for long to bug you," Im're joked
after a swallowing past a lump in his throat. Things were getting bit
too emotional.
"Did we mention she's now your wingthird?" Jayonne teased. "So that's
an order!"
"I heard, the healers gossip. My congratulations," Im're replied.
"Ha! You say that now, but let's see how you feel when you're back in
the wing and she's on your case all the bloody time."
Im're made a face at him.
"In the meantime...you get some rest and we'll see you soon," Jaylene
said. Now that the boy was up and about, she intended to come by
everyday, if she could.
"Yes ma'am," Im're saluted with impish grin on his face.
