It was far too warm for a heavy cloak, but the cold of /between/ was far too cold to go without one. So when J'lor arrived to take her to Dolphin Cove, she was ready. Her hair was tucked carefully beneath the cloak to protect it from the wind of flight. The hood shadowed her delicate features, but her smile was still visible beneath it cast. She didn't bother to shed her cloak when they had arrived, not yet, preferring, instead, to keep it on. The swelter of the outdoors had been replaced with the coolness of the hallways as she was led to a place where she would be allowed to change. The even hotter air of the hatching caverns when they finally headed to the sands made Briata glad she had thought to not wear her new clothes, but, instead, wear a gather dress and bring her nicer dress to change in.
It had been lovely to finally sit through an entire hatching. The first had been at River Bluff, and she'd never been around so many dragons at once. It had been so overpowering that she had been unable to stay for very long. Poor T'vanen had to take her back, her head pounding so much she could barely see.
She had missed Zharesti's. That had been by choice - a choice that Zharesti hadn't liked. She refused to be forced onto the Sands. If she wanted to Impress, that was a decision _she_ wanted to make. Not let someone else make for her. She had her own mind.
When the last egg broke and the last dragon paired, people began to make their way out. Briata had excused herself so that she could go and change into a more proper outfit for the feast. Sitting in the heat of the hatching cavern would have ruined the dress. She was surprised by how many had not thought to do the same, sweat, darkening their clothes, making puffy sleeves droop and full skirts fade. She would not be the first to the feast, but she would be a fresh flower among the wilted. She had asked J'lor to meet her outside the cavern where the feast was to be held.
It didn't take her long. She eased into the dress, long arms reaching the hooks without difficulty. She took up her brush, sweeping it through her hair in long, even strokes, renewing the waves and freshening. She caught a glimpse of herself in the shine of a bit of metal and was pleased with what she saw.
It was not far to the feast and she found J'lor easily, taking his arm and allowing him to escort her inside. She stepped through, the lights playing upon her hair, the waves undulating over her shoulder. Cut from a fabric of brilliant purple, there were no straps to the dress, just the fabric clinging to her body, embracing it, holding it tight. The bodice hugged every rolling curve, emphasizing the hour-glass figure. It stopped low over those scintillating, rounded hips, the skirt flaring where the thigh met it. A slit opened up, not wide enough to bare the whole of the leg, but enough to give teasing flashes of silken thigh and shapely calf, leg winking in and out of sight, offering a taste, then laughing as it darted away, daring the eye to draw closer and get a better look, if it could.
The bodice lifted over full, rounded breasts, leaving enough exposed to taunt the imagination without being vulgar, then glided its way around to the back, tapering to a rounded point just above her hips, guiding halfway down her bottom until it met the skirt. It revealed the the sculpted curvature of her back, so elegantly in tune with the rest of her body. Heavy silvery embroidery was noticed as almost an afterthought, but when caught by the eye, it simply enhanced those hills and valleys that eased over her body, curving around her bosom and down into a triangular point below, with a twisting of winding embroidery embracing her waist and hips. A lighter dancing of silver winked upon the skirts, little silver blossoms that darted here and there, smiling when the light flashed over them. She glided along, the heels of shoes dyed to match her dress, the edge woven with the same flair of silver that marked the fabric above. All together, the fabric gave a glimpse and promised more, then circled away leaving the imagination room to guess at the wonders held within its folds.
Briata smiled to her escort, then motioned to the dance floor. "Do you mind?" She asked the dragonrider and allowed him to lead her there and stepped into his arms. She floated rather than dance, graceful movements with nary falter in time or sway. The embroidery sparkled and lit with every move, catching the eye and then swinging away, only to laugh again and draw attention back to it. If Briata noticed any attention upon her, she ignored it, focusing on the man in whose arms she was in currently, a smile for him and soft words as they conversed.
