Loseth called out to the watchdragon and circled down toward River
Bluff. }:Hello Orlaith. We've come to visit. N'vanik wants to know if
yours is busy.:{
}:She's in her bathing chamber:{ came the gold's amused reply. She
didn't notify her rider of Loseth's arrival either. Orlaith was going to
enjoy this.
N'vanik smiled when Loseth relayed the message. The bronze landed on
the Queen's ledge and N'vanik slipped off his dragon's neck. He walked
through the weyr, tugging off his jacket, and dropped it in a chair.
He listened to the sound of splashing for a moment before he stepped
into the bathing chamber. "Hi Rhosyn."
She turned quickly, not thinking about covering herself, wondering who
would violate her bathing chamber without Orlaith telling her anything.
And then when she saw him, it clicked. It took her a minute to catch her
breath, then she leaned back into the water again, tending her hair that
needed washing. "Well afternoon to you too. Excuse me while I finish the
bath I started."
She was quite a sight, even if most of her was hidden under the water.
He smiled again. "How about I join you?"
She tried her best to look put out by his suggestion, but then a smile
crept over her face. "Aye but I do have to wash my hair, so you can't
distract me from that."
"Maybe I'll help you." He pulled off his boots and reached for his shirt.
She had already wet everything. Taking some of the sweetsand into her hand,
she sudsed it up and then lathered her hair. Closing her eyes, she couldn't
see, lest the soap get into them.
N'vanik stripped off the rest of his clothes and slid into the tub. He
took one of Rhosyn's wrists and gently pulled it way, sliding his free
hand into her hair.
She sighed and submitted to his attentions. It was nice to have someone play
with your hair every once in awhile. The water was warm and soothing to her
tired body.
He massaged her head, working the bubbles through her hair. "So what
have you been up to?"
"Well besides plotting my revenge...not much," she answered honestly.
"Really, though, I've been flying fall and we had...we had a young blue
get scored pretty nasty."
"That's tough." His fingers stilled for a moment before he went on. "I
lost my Wingsecond just before Turn's End. Thread got him."
"Ah...I'm sorry..." Once she was lathered up good enough, she ducked her
head under the water and came back up, wiping her eyes. "Your turn," she
said as she moved to climb onto the ledge to get above him.
He let his sad thoughts drift away. He wasn't here to dwell on his
loss. "My turn? Is that your way of saying I need cleaning?"
"You're wet and in the bath, might as well." She waited for him to get his
hair wet before she put her soapy hands into it. Massaging his scalp, Rhosyn
took her time before she let him rinse. "And it feels nice to be clean."
"So, do you have anyone in mind to fill the position?" Losing riders was a fact
of life for Weyrleaders and it was something that had to be dealt with.
"Not yet. I think I might lure a bronze or brown from another Weyr.
It's risky though, since I won't know how well I'd work with them." He
ran a hand through his hair, squeezing out the excess water.
She went to work on his shoulders and back. "That's true. I'd see if K'sedel
had anyone, but we need all we can get." Rhosyn shrugged, bending down
to kiss his neck. "Why do we always end up in water?" she mused.
He chuckled. "Twice isn't always. We'd have to do this a lot more for
it to be always."
Once she was done with that area, she leaned back. "Allright, I've gotten
what I can reach. I'll sit and close my eyes while you finish."
Rhosyn with her eyes closed ... that gave him some ideas. "Okay." He
waited until her eyes were closed, then turned to face her. For a
second he considered dunking her, but he didn't think she'd take that
well. Instead, he ran a hand along her thigh.
"I hope you're clean because I don't want you in my freshly laundered
bedfurs with a speck of dirt on you," she warned, though her lip quirked
up in what might have been a smile.
"Why don't we use the bath? Then we don't have to worry about dirt."
His hand crept higher.
"I knew it. You like the water!" She came alive then and came toward him,
splashing.
"The water, the bed, the couch, the table, the floor ..." He laughed.
"I like all of it." He pulled her close and kissed her.
"Be a little picky, for Faranth's sake," she teased, kissing him back,
enjoying the feel of his body near hers. "The floor's hard and cold."
"When the mood takes you, you hardly notice." One of his hands slipped
down to tease low on her stomach.
"Well you're usually on top, so you wouldn't notice, would you?" A snicker
came from her mouth as she brought herself into his arms, getting comfortable
with the buoyancy of the water.
"Usually but not always. I've had my share of interesting bruises from
the floor." He slipped his hand around her waist and pulled her even
closer.
"Hmm..well my poor little body would like to request attention in a comfortable
bed, if that might be possible." Her eyes looked up at his while she
tried her best
to look pitiful.
He arched an eyebrow. "I'm starting to think you might be boring. You don't
like the water, you don't like the floor, you probably have some
objection to tables ..."
"I like the water, but we did the water bit last time. So you're the boring one.
The floor hurts, but in a pinch it'll do. Tables I've done-and they're
good until
they move." Rhosyn was very matter-of-fact as she rattled off her preferences.
"Against the wall is good if you get traction, though the stone walls can hurt.
The bed is hands-down favorite, though. Have you tried a desk then?"
"Oh, yes. I got in a fight over it once." He shouldn't find it funny,
but enough time had passed that the memory amused him.
She was tired of the water. Her body was starting to shrivel up. Stepping
out of the pool, she grabbed her drying towel and started to work it against
her skin. "Come on, it's hot in here already. I don't need to be in hot water
any longer."
Everything with her was so ... abrupt. "Fine, fine." He climbed out of the bath.
