Description: Rhosyn asks Y'gel to take her to the hatching at Dolphin Cove.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 13 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: K'sedel
It was in the back of her mind and she knew that the time would be coming in
sevendays. Rhosyn decided to check off one of the things on her to-do list. The
Weyrwoman headed to the dragonhealer infirmary. First she checked on
the riders and then she tried to find Y'gel.
He was bent over a weyrling with a strained wing when he spotted her
looking around. He waved. "Can we help you Weyrwoman?" he called.
"I'll wait to speak to you." She didn't want to distract him from what
he was doing.
"Certainly," he replied with a smile and motioned to his senior
journeyman to take over. "This way," he said and motioned her ahead of
him toward his office.
Rhosyn walked inside and leaned against the wall. She didn't think this would
take long so she didn't sit.
Following her, he appreciated the view though he didn't let it show on
his face by the time she turned around. "Yes?" His brows rose in polite inquiry.
"Dolphin Cove will be having a hatching sometime next month. I plan on
attending, of course. I was thinking you could be my escort since K'sedel
will not be attending." She watched Y'gel, considering what she was doing
and the implications of her choice.
"Of course, I would be honored to escort you to the hatching." He
really wasn't expecting anything like that. He smiled, truly pleased
she had selected him for the duty. Though he didn't really think of it
as a duty.
"Good...I'm having the weavers make me a costume so if you could maybe
see them to coordinate. We don't have to match exactly, but complimenting
would be nice." Rhosyn didn't want to look as if they had both just rolled out
of their weyrs without talking to each other beforehand.
"I'll make sure." He bowed his head slightly. It had been awhile since
he'd had a weyrmate but he knew how it worked when he needed to dress
to her standards.
"I haven't decided yet whether or not Orlaith will take us. Could Augashyth
make the flight?" She had considered the possibilities, but wanted to ask.
"Oh yes," he answered. "He's quite capable of sustained flight.
Aerobatics are more difficult" }:But not impossible:{
She hadn't ridden Orlaith to any of the past Hatchings she had attended since
becoming Weyrwoman. On the one hand, she wanted the chance to show off
her queen to the other Weyrs. Orlaith was one of the largest golds in the South.
On the other hand, she didn't have to be _that_ flashy. "You have the
choice then,
Y'gel. Would you rather she take us or does Augashyth want the honors?"
His eyes glazed for just a moment. "Aughashyth would be honored to carry you
to the hatching," he smiled.
"Very well." She turned and looked at the wall for a moment and then turned back
to him. "Then I look forward to the event." Rhosyn didn't have
anything else for the
moment so she stood up and adjusted her tunic. "I'll let you get back
to your work."
It had been a long time since Y'gel had thought about the regular duties of a
bronzerider. His whole life experience had taken him out of that mold. He hadn't
aspired to the role of a Wingleader or certainly not one of
Weyrleader. He rose as
she did and slowly the situation percolated into his brain. He was
going to escort the Weyrwoman to the next hatching.
A rather silly smile spread across his face. "Thank you Weyrwoman," he
jumped to his feet. "I mean, thank you for thinking of us. It is a
great honor."
"You play an important role within this Weyr and I would have that
duty rewarded." She smiled, also knowing that it was smart to keep all her
bronzeriders happy, regardless of whether or not they could chase.
Her praise warmed him and he could feel a similar happiness from Aug.
"We will both be quite presentable when the time comes." The big
healer smiled down at her.
"A good day to you both then." She slipped out of his office, headed
towards the tunnels after nodding her head.
