Description: Y'gel visits the Weyrwoman with a request
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 13, day 22 of Turn 5
Notes: Mentioned: Lenala
Y'gel marched along the corridor on his way to see the Weyrwoman.
Orlaith was flying well enough to participate in Threadfall but she
hadn't come by for her post laying checkup after her clutch had
hatched. He didn't feel an urgency about it yet as time stretched on
and she still didn't come he felt it was time to remind the Werywoman.
He arrived at her office and knocked on the door.
"Hmmm?" came Rhosyn's typical greeting. The Weyrwoman was looking
over the latest tithe forecasts, trying to make sure that they were not
overusing.
"Good Morning Weyrwoman!" he said heartily as he walked into her office.
"Morning.." Rhosyn didn't think she had made an appointment with him.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?"
Y'gel wasn't one to waste another person's time and he knew her time
was valuable so he came immediately to the point. "Well my dear," he
said genially, "It seems that our lovely Orlaith is strong and flying
well but she still needs to come down for her postpartum checkup."
"I knew I was forgetting something." In all the excitement of getting back
to the Wing, Rhosyn had allowed that to slip her mind. "When can we do it
then?"
"May I?" he asked before depositing himself in a chair. "Any day but a
fall day or rest day should be fine. We are at your disposal." He
smiled. "Of course a little warning would be appreciated," he added
after a small pause.
She looked down and checked her calendar. "How about the 18th?" Rhosyn
could prepare for it and it was open in the morning.
"I'm certain that will be fine. If it isn't currently... it will be,"
he said. "How
has she been acting since the hatching? Back to normal?"
"Aye, she's glad to be back to flying again. Orlaith likes to lead the Wing
and we can assist during fall as needed." Rhosyn also preferred it, since
that meant she didn't have to tend injuries on the ground throughout fall
with Y'gel's staff.
"I can't deny that Aug is nervous when she's up there flying
Threadfall. But then that's the point right? Make the other dragons
strive harder to make sure nothing gets through." He smiled and
nodded. "Your wing is doing well," he said. "We rarely have a
Threadscore from the Queen's wing."
"Well, we rarely have thread on a good day, which helps. Still, I am proud
of my wing. Took me a little to settle in, but I think I know everyone now."
Her fingertips brushed across the desk. Rhosyn hadn't had too much trouble
with Lenala, which she was grateful for.
"You're doing a good job from my point of view," he said with a smile.
"Well thanks. Listen I know your time's valuable, so I'll let you run
off if you need to.
I will have her down there, though," Rhosyn promised, scribbling it on
her note hide.

True to her word, Rhosyn had brought Orlaith's bulk to the
dragonhealers. Grunting, the big queen made sure everyone
knew she was there.
}:I hope it's not too much poking:{
**It'll be fine. It's not like you haven't done it before.**
}:I forgot about the ones before:{ she admitted.
Y'gel approached the big gold with a sweeping bow. **Please thank her
for coming.**
}:Your presence is greatly appreciated lovely Orlaith.:{ Y'gel raised
a brow and chuckled under his breath. **A little much, don't you
think?** he said }:No, She is beautiful:{ but he could still hear the
humor in Aughasyth's mental 'voice'.
He cleared his throat and turned toward the Weyrwoman. She looked a
lovely armful today he thought as he had times past. To him she was a
little thing but round in the very best places like he preferred. He
did try to limit his leer but couldn't help the feeling that flowed
through his link. }:A little much don't you think::{ came a smug
reply. **Oh hush you**
Y'gel motioned to a nearby couch. "Would you ask her to please move to
the couch?" he asked politely.
Orlaith didn't need to be asked. She heard what Y'gel said and she headed
over to the stone slab. She was a bit ungainly on land compared to the air,
but she still managed to look like what a gold should appear to be. Using
her tail to balance, she lifted herself onto the thing and settled, bringing her
wings about her as she watched Y'gel. }:Tell yours I can hear him very well:{
she told Aughasyth easily.
}:She can hear you just fine.:{
He didn't react but scrubbed his hands before approaching her. He started
with a visual examination. Everything looked good from the outside. She
seemed to have returned to normal. "Ok," he said to the Weyrwoman.
"Looking good so far."
Rhosyn nodded, crossing her arms over her chest as she watched Y'gel perform
his exam. She knew what went into these, but it was always good to see
how someone else worked.
"This may be a little uncomfortable but it will only be a moment," he
said to the beautiful gold. He felt the area knowing the Weyrwoman was
looking over his shoulder and carefully searched with his fingers for
rips or tears. Finding none, he withdrew his hand.
"Thank you very much Orlaith. You seem to be almost fully recovered
and should have no difficulties with your next clutch." He turned and
smiled at the Weyrwoman as he crossed to the wash basin. "She'll be
completely back to normal by the end of the month. Did she seem to
strain at all when she was laying her last clutch?"
}:It is done now?:{
**Almost**
"I wouldn't know. She did it while I was sleeping." Rhosyn smiled, shaking
her head at her queen.
"Ahhh," he laughed. "Quite the private one are you?" he asked the giant
queen. "You can get off the couch now dear, " he added. She was quite
a lovely gold... He grinned realizing his perception was being colored
by his lifemate.
Orlaith took her time. It took a bit to get such a big mass moving. Once she
got underway, though, it didn't take long before her huge strides had her
where she wanted-on her ledge in the sun.
"Thanks. So nothing abnormal then?" Rhosyn didn't think so, but she wanted
to ask formally anyway.
He reached out and patted her shoulder, "No worries, but try to get
her to let you see her lay the next clutch if you can. I think she may
be pushing too hard to get them all out quickly. She could tear if she
does that."
"I'll try, but it's not like telling a child you're going to do
something. She's a lot bigger than I am." Although, Rhosyn could watch her steady, but that was just
silly not to rest.
"Yes," he said and looked at her seriously. "But she will obey when she
knows you truly have her best interest at heart, _and_ you really want
it."
"I know. Just like when it's time for her to fly. It's like fighting a mountain,
though, when she sees differently." Rhosyn found it hard to describe. She
loved her queen, but they were still two different beings in some respects.
It might not seem like it to the woman but he did understand. Logic
didn't enter Aughashyth's mind when a gold rose. Even though they both
knew his injury prevented him from the extraordinary feats of flying
that would gain him the favorable attention of a rising gold. Still he
chased.
"Just try Rhosyn, that's all I ask."
