Description: Eilomar pleases his future wife...
Location: Harper Hall
Date: month 13, day 4 of Turn 6
Her great-uncle tottled off to his usual chair, presumably to sleep
though it really didn't matter. His presence was merely for
appearances, and Master Eilomar had always been the perfect gentleman.
His soft snores were just background music to their meetings, though
without Eilomar's voice to drown it out, it was starting to become
rather deafening to Merlish's young ears. Just as she was afraid she
was about to go mad, the Choir Master opened the door.
"Good evening Master Eilomar," she smiled, standing up from her chair at
the table. The tea was still hot and she automatically reached for the
pot to begin pouring.
"Good evening, Merlish and Tantral," Eilomar said and threw an amused
glance towards his friends direction. "Or should I say good night to
him?"
"I don't think he had even leaned his head back against the cushion
before he was asleep," Merlish said with a conspiratorial smile.
Eilomar chuckled and took a seat. "I've received about a dozen more
replies to our wedding invitations. How about you?" he asked.
Merlish set a cup of tea in front of him next to a plate of sweet bread.
"There's a stack there," she said, nodding to a pile at the end of the
table. "I didn't want to open them until you came."
Eilomar nodded and picked up the cup. "Shall we open them now," he
suggested.
"If you would like," she said, sitting down across from him with her own
half-drunk cup of tea.
Eilomar nodded and too the pile. They spent a long moment opening them
and marking up who has replied and what. "We have pretty much gotten all
the
replies for to the invitations we sent," he remarked with certain
satisfaction. "And most will be coming."
"Most," she said a little breathlessly. That was a lot of people! How
were they going to feed them all? House them all? And even more
importantly... "How are we ever going to get that many people _here_?"
Some might venture a journey on their own, but the Weyr was pretty far
from her home. Maybe his family members had marks to spare, but hers
certainly did not!
"I shall ask my daughter Aileyan to arrange it. What use it is to have
dragonrider in family if you can't take advantage of it?" Eilomar said.
It never crossed his mind that she might refuse or that the task would
be almost impossible for a Dragonsfall's rider who didn't know Dolphin
Cove's territory.
"You could do that?" Merlish asked, her eyes widening slightly. It
seemed Eilomar could arrange _anything_, even dragons in the sky when he
had a mind to! She had to admit, she was rather impressed with her
future husband.
"Of course," Eilomar assured, basking in her admiration.
"Oh Master Eilomar, that would be wonderful!" How impressed her family
would be!
"Yes, it is," the harper was feeling very smug.
"Would it be too much to hope that maybe a _bronze_ could pick up my
family?" What an amazing sight that would be! Her parents would feel
so proud, and her brothers! They wouldn't be able to stop talking about
it for turns!
"It would make an impression. I am sure she knows a lot of riders of
different kind," Eilomar answered.
"Oh, that would make my family so happy!" she cried, covering her mouth
when she remembered her uncle was still sleeping. But if he could do
that... If the table wasn't between them she was sure she would throw
her arms around his neck and hug him in a most unladylike manner.
Eilomar was feeling very self-satisfied with her obvious pleasure.
"Anything for you, Merlish."
