Once again he slept in and the covers were rudely pulled off letting
in every cold breeze in the entire place as one of the assistants
kicked his bed. "Up and at 'em sleepyhead" **do they leave the doors
open at night?** he grumbled.

}:Want me to warm you mine? Maybe we can do that after you feed me.:{

**Are you ever full** It seemed like his whole life was feeding and
cleaning up after Imalkyth but the warmth of love flowed back and
forth and he knew now what his father and mother had meant all those
turns ago when they promised someday he'd know.

A warm brown snout butted into him as he tried to pull his pants on
and he nearly fell over. Dragon laughter filled his head and his
hand slapped behind him tagging the little guy. He hopped as he fitted his
other leg in and pulled them up. Quickly a tunic and sweater followed
then his socks and boots. Stamping his feet he swiftly made the bed
and tidied his room a bit.

"G'wen!" he called knowing the green riders small area was across the corridor.

Over the din G'wen heard K'ale. Glancing back at Neath, he muttered,
"Come on, let's get you fed." As soon as he had awoken she had crawled
into his bed and was now curled up, ready to go back to sleep.

}:But I just ate, I'm tired:{

**That was four hours ago! If you don't go now you'll be bugging me
to feed you soon enough, so let's just get you fed and you can go back
to sleep, I promise**

G'wen waved K'ale over and leaned down to rub that certain spot on her
neck that Neath loved so. It would wake her up, he figured.

}:It won't:{ she grumbled but her head came up to watch K'ale little brown.

"Alright then, let's get you some nice red meat." he said turning to
scratch a pair of eye ridges. Then he grinned **Please tell Neath's
we'll meet him at the pens, I'll start butchering.** He pulled an
apron out and started toward the beast pens with Imalkyth following
behind. That was the first time he'd ever communicated to another
rider through his dragon. His mouth twisted in a self satisfied smile.
Hungry eager thoughts percolated through and he chuckled. "Someday
you'll fly high and catch your own food."

G'wen watched K'ale and his brown go out of the barracks at the same
time that Neath told him, }:Imalkyth has said something about food and
come here...the pens?:{ She was having a hard time figuring it out, as
all she had on her mind was sleep.

**Ah, they're on their way to get some meat for Imalkyth. You're
seriously not hungry?**

}:Well...maybe a bit. Can you bring it to me?:{

"No! Lazy," G'wen exclaimed out loud. Really, his little green had
some nerve! "Come on." He stood up and scratched behind her head
knobs. Walking away from the bed, he turned
to see that she was stumbling off it, yawning mightily. Satisfied
that she was actually going to listen to him for once, he kept walking
out of the barracks.

K'ale led the way toward a just slaughtered herdbeast tossed out to
the feeding area for the dragonets and began butchering. The little
brown snout shoved its way toward the belly of the beast. **what do you want?**

}:I like those parts:{

K'ale chuckled and shook his head. **You like it all**

Several others of the weyrlings were feeding theirs nearby and K'ale
acknowledged them with a smile and wave. He couldn't help but
laugh at the one girl with the look of distaste trying to hack apart a beast in almost a dainty way. **How is that even possible.** he asked his.

G'wen walked up to K'ale, yawning. "So, how are you two this morning?"

K'ale chuckled thinking it was funny that he could answer so much with
a single word "Hungry," he said. One of these mornings he'd get a cup
of klah before the brown needed fresh meat. "How are you two doing?"
he said looking over at the little green.

"She's more tired than hungry." G'wen pointed to Neath, who was still
quietly watching K'ale's little brown. He picked up a knife and
joined K'ale in cutting the raw meat.

Glob after glob was thrown toward the brown who tried to catch them in
the air but not always successfully. K'ale found it hard to believe
that someday his little guy would be as big as his father's lifemate
Tonuth.

}:I'll be bigger:{ was the smug reply and K'ale burst out with
laughter. Knowing he probably looked silly doing it but so were the
others around him as they had their own internal conversations.

Neath studied Imalkyth as G'wen hacked meat for her. **Stop that
Neath, you look like you're going to eat him.**

She sniffed at her lifemate and grumbled. }:Of course I wouldn't eat
him. I just need to keep an eye on my clutchmates:{

G'wen caught K'ale's look and rolled his eyes. "She's so full of herself."

Seeing G'wen conversing with one of the other weyrlings that he wasn't
overly familiar with, J'nor decided to come say hello. Zoranaith
trotted over and playfully nuzzled Neath, having played with her
before. "Hey guys, how's it going?" J'nor asked.

}:Hi Neath!:{ Zoranaith greeted the green dragon.

"Oh, I'm J'nor," he said to K'ale. "I don't think we've officially met
outside of our classes."

Cardella had been out at the pens early. Awenth had awoken her early
complaining loudly of her hunger. The sometimes bossy green had all
but tried to drag Cardella from the bed.

**Look the others are joining us,** she told Awenth, who looked up
from her feast with a grunt, before dipping her snout back into the
bloody mess. Cardella snorted and shook her head.

}:Food first!:{ Came the disgruntled reply. **Food is always first on
your mind,** Cardella told her lifemate even as her own stomach
rumbled. She raised her hand and waved to the others. "Morning G'wen,
K'ale, J'nor!" She called over to them. "If Awenth ever decides to
stop gorging, I might get to sleep in one of these days." Her words
were light and happy. Awenth had changed her life, and Cardella would
never wish for anything differently now that she had Awenth.

K'ale looked up to smile at Cardella's greeting. "Good morning!" he
returned her greeting before turning to clasp hands with J'nor. "Nice
to meet you, officially!" he grinned.

}:Zoraith! theres food!:{ K'ale burst out laughing and rolled his
eyes. "Sorry," he shook his head. "It's like food is new to him every
time we come out here."

"Hi Cardella!" G'wen exclaimed and ran up to give her a hug and a
quick spin around. "Oh, and morning J'nor!" Feeling frisky he ran
back and gave the tall boy a hug after deciding he wasn't about to be
able to pick him up like he just done Cardella.

Neath watched it all after giving Zoranaith a nuzzle. }:Isn't there a
bronze rider you could hug?:{

"Neath! Stop already!"

J'nor hugged the other weyrling quickly, although somewhat self
consciously. He knew that the Weyrling rules were no contact beyond
holding hands, but he hoped that a simple innocent hug wasn't enough
to cause any trouble.

Once he'd greeted his sister, Zoranaith ran over to where Imalkyth
stood. }:Food, really?:{ he perked up.

J'nor laughed. "All he cares about is food and bugs," he said to
K'ale, "So don't feel too bad."

"Come Awenth, our friends are over there!" Cardella tried to convince
the stubborn green to move closer, but all she got was a snort.
"There's fresher meat over there!" _That_ finally perked her up. In a
matter of moments, she was standing and grinning next to her friends.

"This is all so unbelievable, isn't it?" She asked, her eyes alight
and glowing with her excitement over all that had happened. "Looks
like some of our friends aren't used to getting up before the sun to
bake breads," she giggled, pointing over her shoulder to those who
were grumbling their way out of the barracks.

"J'nor," Cardella greeted the other rider. She hardly knew him. They
hadn't really interacted much during candidate classes, so she was
still a bit nervous around him.

J'nor smiled at her, "Good morning Cardella," he greeted. The girl
hadn't really caught his attention when they were candidates, but now
that they were riders, he wanted to try and get to know her a little
better. "How are you doing this morning?" J'nor wasn't much of a
morning person, but since he had arrived at the Weyr, he was getting a
lot better at rising early. It helped that Zoranaith woke before
Rukbat did, and pushed him out of his cot.

"I'm doing quite well," she answered J'nor. "Hard to believe how much
has changed in just one night, isn't it?" She asked, glancing over to
Awenth with a bemused smile on her face. }:Let me eat, then you can
dote on me.:{ Cardella laughed aloud at her green's attitude. Looking
back to the boys, she shrugged as though in apology for the inside
joke, "She seems to think I should _dote_ on her a bit." Cardella was
amused and knew she would, in fact, do just that later on.

"A lot has changed," he admitted. "And I wish that Zoranaith just
craved my affection. He's like a little 2 turn old, always dragging me
around to look at this, or play with that... or crying because he
inhaled the trundle bug he was watching walk around. He doesn't sit
still long enough for me to dote on him!" He reached down to rub
Zoranaith and found that he was not where he had been a moment before.
Now, he was wandering off, sniffing at the ground curiously.

}:I itch mine:{ said Imalkyth and K'ale smiled fondly. "Well then to
the bath," he said and then looked at the others. "Looks like we have
an itch, so I'll see you later." With that he scratched the brown's
eye ridges just where he liked and started backing in the direction of
the lake. **Come on love, I'll take care of those itches. It just
means you're growing.** He pointed at J'nor "good to meet you," then
waived at the others and turned to walk out of the feeding area. "See
you in class," he called.

Neath sat back, torn between seeing what Zoranaith was up to and
leaning close to her lifemate. She was a bit miffed at Awenth nosing
her away from the fresh meat. Sensing her mood, G'wen reached down
and caressed the soft spot just behind her headknobs. Maybe the
little brown had it right and a bath was in order, but then again
thanks to her thoughtful lifemate, her hide shown so bright in the
early morning light that all the different undertones sparkled out.
She snorted, fed up with herself. This isn't how a queen would act.
