Description: Im're meets the siblings of Jayonne and tries to save his pint!
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 11, day 24 of Turn 5
Jayonne was placing the pint in front of his older sister when a familiar shock of red hair caught his attention. "Hey Im're!" he called out over the dinner crowd. Turning back to his sister he teased, "it's a fellow
redhead for you."
"I am_not_a redhead," Jaylene said. "It's only the ends that are red." She tossed her thick hair back over her shoulder.
Jayonne laughed at her. To be fair, only the ends were auburn, the rest was almost as black as his and their middle sibling's hair. To him he said,"move over J'zen, let Im're have a seat."
"Oh, hi Jayonne," Im're replied the greeting and waived his hand. He altered his direction a little, so he ended up to their
table. He looked at the other people curiously.
"Im're, let me introduce you to the three Jay's," the tall lad teased. "This lovely lady is my sister Jaylene, rider of green Reanth..." The tall woman held out her hand to shake Im're's. "You know me. And this jerk here is my big brother, J'zen."
"Rider of green Verlith, glad to meet you," J'zen added, patting the seat
beside him for Im're to join them. "Don't worry lad, we don't bite.
Well, she might," he added, pointing to the eldest sibling, "but we'll
protect you."
"Hi, I'm Im're, blue Gormth's rider," Im're replied and shook the hands around. He took the offered seat.
"You don't have a pint?" Jaylene asked the lad. "He doesn't have a drink
Jay, get him one!" She nudged Jayonne beside her before saying, "opps,
wait a minute," and reaching out to a handsome bronze rider walking
past and taking his pint. Placing it in front of Im're she nodded and said, "there you go, don't worry Jayonne."
"Ah, the perks of being a redhead, eh?" J'zen said, nudging Im're beside him and laughing at Jaylene's dirty look.
Im're found himself just staring the stolen pint in disbelief. Members if his family would never act this.. rowdy. They were crafters, they tended to
be more dignified, more reserved. Not that he and his father could
manage up a showy expressions of temper.
"You just stole it from a passer by!" he exlaimed.
"Ah, he can get a new one, don't you worry, sweetie," she said with a wave
of her hand. "And besides I know him and he owes me anyways."
"Yeah, her little green wasn't caught by his!" J'zen said to Im're. "Was it another blue?" he asked her. Jaylene's answer was one of her riding
gloves thrown on her middle brother's head.
Jayonne laughed and told Im're, "her Reanth keeps getting caught by blues. I think half the blue rider population in this Weyr has been permantly
tramatized when they realised who they've just had such a grand time with!"
"Who knows what he's done with it," Im're muttered and still eyed the tankard suspiciously. He gave the woman a curious look. He certainly wouldn't mind having grand time with her...or with J'zen.
J'zen laughed when he spied the look on Im're's face as he started at the
pint like it might bite him. "Not to worry lad, he_may_be a bronze
rider but I'm sure he hasn't done anything horrible like piss in it or
anything. He brushed a back curl from his grey eyes and took a sip of
the offending pint. "See? It's fine. Or would you rather have
mine?"
"Watchout sweetie, that might not be
all of his you'll be having, if you get my meaning," Jaylene said with a
knowing nod of the head, and a wink.
"Now you've touched it. Does anybody else want to taste it?" Im're complained in joking tone and smile.
"If you're inviting," she said, and took the mug for a dainty sip.
Jayonne shrugged his shoulders and took a drink, while J'zen took
Jayonne's half empty pint and pretty much finished it. Jaylene slid her
own pint in front of Im're for a sip.
Im're took a sip of her tankard and thought he tasted her lips on the rim. But it was just probably adolence's over-active imagination.
J'zen nudged him with his hip. "Here have a sip, mine's not that watered down lager she likes."
"I rather liked her brand," Im're replied.
"See?" Jaylene said to her brother, slapping her hand on the table. "Lots of people like lager, not that black mud you so enjoy." Turning her
attention back to Im're, she continued, "glad to know there's someone in
this Weyr who enjoys a proper beer. Those boys and their stouts." She
pointed to her younger brothers and shuddered. A handsome rider walked
into view behind Im're's head, diverting her attention. Nudging the
two riders with her foot, she asked, "boys, look what just walked in!
Wanna lay a wager if he's in my camp or you're's?"
"He's a brownrider," Im're knew.
Jaylene grinned whilst J'zen mock pouted. Jayonne rolled his eyes and said to Im're, "sorry for my family."
"Pfft...don't listen to him," piped in J'zen, "he's just upset he doesn't have a nice little green dragon like his big brother or sister."
"Uh-uh," Im're said since he couldn't figure out anything intelligent.
Jayonne picked up Jaylene's other riding glove and threw it on his brother's head. It landed beside the first one that was flung at J'zen. Their sister laughed and mock whispered to their guest, "he's the family
straight boy...no green dragon to speak of. Just that bloody fiddle!"
"Yes, I thought that was strange when I first met him," Im're whispered back in conspiratory tone.
"She used to be your's," Jayonne teased.
"And then I found a much more sensible 'she'...my Reanth!"
"And loads of other 'he's' along the way," J'zen pipped in.
Im're just shook his head and clucked his tongue.
"Shhh! No one's suppost to know that!" She reached over and threw a playful punch on her brother's shoulder. The black haired lad just laughed and mocked hid in Im're's shoulder.
Im're rolled his eyes and smiled. They were kind of funny bunch.
J'zen caught Im're's smile. He asked, "so how are you settling in to the Weyr? Jayonne said you came from Dragonsfall?"
"Yes, I'm settling in just fine. The climate takes some getting used to. I burn in the sun," Im're made a face.
"Oh sweetie, I have something for that!" Jaylene said. "The Healers here make a lovely cream."
"Yeah, and she comes with it, just to rub it in well and good," J'zen added with a wink.
The thought of her rubbing something on him...well, Im're found himself blushing furiously.
"D'you know your ears blush too?" she said, lightly kicking his toe with her riding boot under the table.
"Yes, I know," Im're actually slid down wards on his chair. Maybe he could hide under the table?
"Okay you two, back off, he's my friend," Jayonne said, placing the lad's
pint back in front of him. If he was going to spend much more time with
their little group he was going to need it. "Your girl due to Rise
soon?" he asked his brother. The answer was Jaylene's glove being
thrown back in his face.
"Too bad Gormth is still too young to chase," Im're said and took
the pint. He actually pressed it against his chest, worried they might
drink all and leave him without.
"Oh yeah?" J'zen asked, cuddling up to him. "Would you like to chase?"
"I wouldn't mind it," Im're replied and tried very hard not to blush again.
Now it was J'zen's turn to go red. "Aha!" exclaimed Jayonne. "Well done
Im're, I don't think I can remember him being that particulair shade of
red before."
"It means he likes you," Jaylene whispered to the lad.
"Really?" the question came out almost as a squeak.
Jayonne watched with some concern to see who would turn redder. Jaylene just laughed and said, "drink up, both of you!"
Im're took a swallow obediently. He felt he needed it.
The woman turned to her youngest brother, mock whispering, "which one is
going to pass out from embaresment first, do you think?" Slapping the
table, she teased J'zen, "you've had that green beastie_how_long and
you're still blushing like the newest Weyrling?" Jayonne smiled an
appology to Im're.
Im're wasn't offended. He was newest weyrling after all, or at least almost.
"Ah, that's better, life's returning to your face," Jayonne said, watching
Im're turn back to his normal colour. The same couldn't be said for
J'zen who look a deep drink of his pint--or what was left of it--to
cover up his face.
Im're grinned back at him.
Good then, thought Jayonne. The lad was getting one on J'zen, who more than deserved it. He had been quite worried that the boy who had seemed
so unhappy with his past at Drangonsfall wasn't drowning under the
attentions of his two siblings.
Glancing around the table, he noticed that only Im're's tightly held mug was the only pint left. Standing up, he said, "anyone for another?" Mock glaring at his sister, he added, "and gotten fairly this time. No cheating a hapless bronze rider!"
"Oh, you_know_you're our future bronze rider!" J'zen teased.
Im're sipped his drink. They were quite fun people after you got used to them, he decided.
