Description: Orlaith lays her first clutch at River Bluff.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 12, day 5 of Turn 5

Rhosyn rolled over on the bed. The Weyrwoman was spending her nights in the
weyr by the Grounds. Sprawled all over the bed, she made a fine sight in her
underwear. Not a fan of the heat yet, she generally slept with hardly
anything on.
Orlaith wasn't sleeping, however. The big gold had risen early, knowing what
she was about to do. The rest of the Weyr would face threadfall. She would
give them something to come back to. Rumbling around the grounds, not
wanting
anyone to know what she was doing, she began to grunt. As if she were
sitting atop treasure, she was crouched down low, her wings blocking anyone
from seeing.
She'd move from time to time and it wasn't long before it was obvious what
she was doing. }:Hello there little one:{ Scooting over to an empty spot,
she
swirled the sands around some with her foreclaw, making a perfect nest for
her babies. }:I will put you here:{
Waddling around with her body so heavy, she began to get noticeably smaller
as each round egg came out. They were all perfect, to her way of thinking.
It took some time before Orlaith was done. After her labors were over, she
simply found a place on the warm sands and slept, though she would have
woken at the slightest disturbance.
Rhosyn finally woke and dressed, walking out onto the sands. Sipping her
daily klah in the half shadowy glow before the light came to signal dawn,
she thought something had changed. The sand was making odd shapes in the
darkness. Then she felt Orlaith's very satisfied feeling in her mind. **You
sneak!** Walking forward to the nearest egg, she touched it. It was still so
soft, but it was an egg. Without a doubt in her mind, she waited for K'sedel,
knowing he'd come by before calling the wings to muster.
"Good Morning," called the Weyrleader, slipping his head into the cavern. He
blinked as his eyes adjusted to the semi-darkness of the sands, then took in
the sight. "Rhosyn?"
"I'm here," she answered, her hands wrapped around the warm mug. "She
finally laid them."
"Orlaith, they're beautiful," K'sedel said turning to the Gold. "You've done
Rhosyn proud."
Orlaith made a slight noise, but she continued to sleep. She would eat as
soon as she was done resting.
"She's tired from all that work, but I think they're fine eggs. Plenty of
them
to go around too." Rhosyn couldn't quite count in the darkness, but she saw
enough shapes that she didn't worry. "I think telling everyone might help as
they go up."
"Do you know how many there are?"
She shook her head. "No idea. Hard to tell. For all I know she might have
buried some in the sand." In the dark she couldn't see anyway.
"Will she allow us to turn the lights on?"
**Darling, can we see them?** she asked softly, feeling Orlaith's tiredness,
knowing that might make her more irritable.
}:Yes but make it quick. I am sleepy:{ Orlaith would rest for quite some
time, Rhosyn was sure.
"We can, but it has to be fast. She wants to sleep undisturbed," Rhosyn told
him, watching her hulk of a dragon who was curled behind the eggs, her
breathing heavy and loud.
"We'll count quickly," K'sedel said, aware of both rider and dragon
listening. He flicked the light switch on and revealed the eggs in their
glory.
Rhosyn walked over the right side, pointing for him to head to the left. It
was daunting once she saw how many hulks there were on the sands. Quietly,
she counted and then headed back, seeing Orlaith watching them with one eye.
"I made eighteen on that side" K'sedel told her, hoping that there was at
least a similar number that Rhosyn had counted.
"I've got twenty, but I think I saw some under the sand, but I can't be
sure." She frowned, knowing that once the sun had come up and filtered
through the skylight at the top of the Sands to harden the eggs that she
could count better.
"So that's thirty eight we can see, but more likely forty or more?"
"I'd say so." Rhosyn frowned, feeling better after the lights were off
again.
"We'd better check before we make the announcement. Not that the news of
the eggs will keep for long."
"Allright while you all are gone, when the sunlight's up, I'll investigate."
She grabbed her klah mug again and took another drink.
"Want me to get some more of that sent up?" asked K'sedel.
"Oh, I have a pot brewing in the weyr, there. I would like some eggs,
sausage, and toast though." A proper breakfast was necessary to starting
one's day. Her mother had taught her that from an early age.
"I'll let Sol know and ask her to get someone up to you as soon as she can."
"No rush. Once Orlaith has rested and eaten, I should be free to leave I
think." She leaned against K'sedel for a brief moment. "Fly well out there
today.
I'll see you when you get back."
"Nikornath will want to see them, so I know he'll take care. We'll be back."
