Eilomar and his wife-to-be were using his office while they were writing
up the names of the people who they should invite to their wedding.
Eilomar's list was already looking much longer. He was naturally going
to invite all the Hall's masters. The party was going to be a large one.
"Who should invite Tantral? I'm mean, he's your relative but my friend
and fellow harper," Eilomar asked.

"I think in these cases family ties are supposed to win out," she said
as her hand paused over the sheet, ready to write her great-uncle's name
on her very blank looking list. She had to have at least a _few_ people
outside immediate family in attendance!

"I going to invite my daughters and their families, my sister from
Emerald Falls and her family...and I guess I have to invite my brother
too," he grimaced.

"You _had_ to invite them? You mean, you didn't _want_ to invite them?"
she asked, rather surprised. Her family had been the first on her list!

"My brother and I don't get along very well. M'eil and I were always
pitted against each other," Eilomar said.

"He's a dragonrider?" Merlish knew one of his daughters rode a green,
but she didn't know it had come from his side of the family.

"Yes, a bluerider. He run off from the Hall when he was sixteen. With a
greenrider. Ended up Impressing too," Eilomar told her, snorting with
disgust. "It was a terrible scandal."

Her eyes grew wide. "A _male_ greenrider?"

"Oh, yes. It wouldn't been such a scandal if he had been she," Eilomar
replied.

"Oh my." A horrifying thought entered her mind. "And would he be
bringing a... male lover... to our wedding?"

"I don't know. He came alone to my daughter's wedding," Eilomar said.

"Well, that's a relief at least." Merlish couldn't stand the thought of
such a spectacle at her wedding. It would ruin the sanctity of the
event.

"I make sure there's no avec mentioned in his invitation," Eilomar said
and made a little mark on his list. He and M'iel weren't close, but they
were family.

"Will your daughters be able to come?" she asked, feeling a little
nervous flutter at the thought of meeting his children who were older
than she was!

"That reminds to be seen. Much depends on if there is Fall then. Aileyan
would usually bring her sister," Eilomar replied. A faint frown
appreared to his face. "I think she has brithday somewhere around this
month."

"You don't know?" Again, Merlish was surprised. Her parents had never
forgotten her birthingday.

"My ex-wife used to take care of stuff like that," Eilomar got up and
started to rummage thru the shelves. "I think she made a list
somewhere,.." After awhile he found a little note book. "Here," he said,
leafing absently thru the book. "Birthdays, wedding days, everything."

"It's a start at least," Merlish smiled approvingly, moving closer so
she could look at what was written there.

Eilomar gave her the book. "I'm not very good at tracking birthdays.
Ailewyn always did that. Would you like to do that to me too?" he asked.

Merlish felt a little proud at the thought that _she'd_ be trusted with
such a great responsibility. "Of course, Master Eilomar." She pulled
the book closer to her chest like it was a precious trophy before
pulling it away to flip through it. "Which daughter was that?"

"Aileyan," Eilomar replied.

She flipped through until she found an entry that looked similar to the
name he said. "This one?" she asked, confirming the spelling. "Her
birthday is day 17."

"I could manage to send her a gift if I can find a dragonrider to take
it," Eilomar said thoughtfully.

"Your surrounded by dragonriders," Merlish said with a small laugh,
touching Eilomar's arm lightly. "She'll be so touched that you made the
effort."

"Well, I am her father," Eilomar shrugged.
