"Good morning," called out the Weyrleader as he headed down to the docks.
"How are things going?"

"Morging, Weyrleader. Things are going slick as well oiled rope," Tamah
replied with a grin.

"Always good to hear." The Weyrleader's grin matched that of the Seacrafter.

"Are we due many ships in this sevenday?"

"Aye, just one. The Typhoon Racer. It's the slow season," The harbour
master replied.

"She's come a fair way, I'm sure last time she was here her Captain said
they were heading for the North?" asked K'sedel, wondering if he had it
right.

"Yes, they went North, then to Jade Harbour Hold. Now they'll be bringing
our tithes from Jade Harbour," Tamah replied. "She's sailing in a big
circle."

"Which means some of her crew might want some shore leave here I suppose."

"That's safe bet. Weyr is every seaman's favourite place for it," Tamah
replied and grinned.

"You'd better let the headwoman know," K'sedel said. "Extra beds and
meals, even if the crew do find suitable berths here."

"Most will find a greenrider to tumble with.. or bluerider," Tamah said.

"I'll let her know anyways."

"And I'll have a word with the Weyrlingmaster about the candidates. Let
them know that they can say no to unwanted advances."

"I usually give a little speech for the seacrafters before they are let
aloose on the Weyr. About what's allowed and what's not in Weyr," Tamah
told him.

"A good plan."

"It avoids a heck of a lot trouble later," Tamah shrugged. Something he
had learned over the Turns. Seacrafters who weren't familiar with Weyrs
tended
to believe that everything was allowed.

"We have a day or so before the Typhoon Racer arrives?"

"Two days, unless the wind picks up," Tamah shrugged. "The problem of
sailing ship's: their schedules are just estimations at the best and
travel
time depends on weather and winds."

"I'd better have R'syl or M'galec give that talk sooner rather than later
then."

Tamah nodded and looked at the sea, a kind of longing in his eyes.

"You'd like to be aboard when she leaves," K'sedel said, noting the look
on Tamah's face.

"Aye, but I'm no longer fit for it," the Harbour master replied and
absently rubbed his maimed hand.

"At least you get to keep in touch with your craft though. So many would
have been forced to take a back seat."

"That's right," Tamah nodded. Never mind that he was mostly a hidepusher
thesedays. He still lived by the sea and from the sea.

"Let me know when she arrives, it might do to have a few obviously senior
people around when her crew come up to the weyr proper."

"I'll send my flit," Tamah promised. It was faster than trek across the
river and weyrbowl.

"I'll have Nokornath look out for his 'little cousin' then."

"A little cousin who thinks he's a big one," Tamah rolled his eyes.

"We all have our dreams."

"So we have," Tamah agreed.
