K'sedel

K'sedel

Once she had been invited inside, the goldrider found herself face to face
with the Weyrleader for the first time. She knew that she would be working
with him, so she didn't want to start off on the wrong foot, as she was
prone to do. "Good day to you Weyrleader."

"And to you," replied K'sedel. "Please, sit down." He gestured to a seat.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Rhosyn, call me K'sedel. I don't believe in
ceremonials when they aren't needed."

Moving, she did get comfortable in the chair before pulling out her
waterskin for another drink. She wondered how much longer it was going to be before the food arrived that M'galec had ordered sent up. "And you as well."

"Might I ask why River Bluff?" K'sedel said pleasantly.

"Apparently you all have good weather over here." And there was the matter
of them needing another queen of course.

"Apart from when it rains, and it can rain here."

"Yeah I had asked M'galec about afternoon showers and he said there was a
rainy season. That sounds like it'd be nice though. Don't have to fly thread when it's a soaker." And that meant less injuries, which Rhosyn was all for since it ended up being Orlaith calming the upset dragons.

"I take it you heard about Zharesti?" K'sedel asked, switching the subject.

"Bits and pieces, but not the whole story. Mainly what I am interested in,
though, is how it's going to be for me to fill her boots.." Rhosyn looked to K'sedel for guidance there.

"She's what would best be described as a 'character'", admitted K'sedel.
"She has a definite mind of her own and knows how to use it, so she did have a few people who were less than enamoured with her. If you can get those people on your side you'll be doing well."

Rhosyn nodded, taking that in. As a dragonrider, her next concern was rather obvious. "When is River Bluff due for another Fall?"

K'sedel checked the chart on the wall. "Day 5 of this month, then day 20."

Rhosyn only had a few days then. She'd have to work fast. Hearing a knock
at the door, she suspected that was the food. Getting up, she took the tray
and sat back down, munching happily. "Okay so get moved in is priority 1,
then find my way around, and get ready for fall in two days. Is there
anything else I should know? Tithes to be sorted, foster mothers to be
chosen, or would Lenala have all that?"

"She should," K'sedel said. "But if she doesn't it means that it might be
with our Headwoman, or Ariau."

Rhosyn made a note in her head, finishing off the food on the tray. "Tell me this, are there any other major events or anything I should be aware of?"

"Not at the moment. We're just getting over the fact that Veyeth is
obviously not over the problems she'd had. It seems to have struck Zharesti
a bit of a blow."

She nodded, looking at her feet. It was hard to imagine anything going wrong with Orlaith. "Well if that's it, I'd like to go on to my quarters if I can. Orlaith's sitting out there, wondering where I am I bet." She stood up and nodded to K'sedel. "Maybe if you could send someone to get me for evening meal so I don't get lost?"

"Perhaps you'd like to dine with myself and my weyrmate this evening?"
suggested K'sedel. "I'm sure Ciara would love to meet you, but I must warn
you that there may be some of our children there. They have been known to
cause a ruckus in the dining cavern before now."

That wasn't the type of thing to bother Rhosyn. "That's fine, but I was
hoping to meet Ariau and the others then..." She frowned, thinking how she
could do that. "Have to discuss some things since I only have days before
fall."

"Well let's make it the day after 'fall then?"

"Deal. Good afternoon then, Weyrleader." Heading out of his office, she
realized she didn't know where her quarters were. Popping back in, she
smiled. "Where am I going?"

"Out to the bowl and turn left. I'm willing to bet that by now the Headwoman has a gang of workers on your ledge to help you settle in, just look for them."

"Fair enough." She did leave then, hoping her dragon wasn't that peeved
about waiting.
}:I'm fine!:{
