As soon as drills were over, N'vanik hurried over to the new wingrider. Any woman who looked like _that_ wasn't going to be lacking company long, and he wanted to make sure he was first in line. "So how do you like the frozen wasteland?"
He was rewarded with a wide grin as the girl pulled her riding helmet off.
"It's terrible! Please tell me we're going to thaw out sometime in the next few months... I don't know how much snow I can stand to look at."
"They say it does thaw out, but I haven't seen proof of that yet."
"So you must be new here, too." Talryne smiled and offered her hand. "I'm Talryne, and my green is Ysanth."
He took the offered hand. "N'vanik, rider of bronze Loseth. I've been here for about two months, and it's been nothing but snow and cold."
"I'm starting to think I should have chosen a warmer climate," Talryne admitted as she turned back towards the Weyr--and warmth. "I was a River Bluff for a while... it _never_ got like this."
N'vanik gave a short laugh. "You picked this place?" "Not my most brilliant moment," Talryne replied dryly. "But it seems nice enough once you get past the snow."
"It's nice enough inside. And the company can _occasionally_ be pleasant."
He smiled slightly. Willing enough to play along, Talryne quirked an eyebrow. "Is that so? I haven't spent much time looking for company, but I'll be sure to tell you if I find any that's particuarly pleasant."
N'vanik chuckled. "Well, sometimes the company finds you."
"Only if the company can catch you first," Talryne replied with a grin.
"Right now, I'd take a nice warm mug of klah over just about anything company could offer me."
"You could have both at the same time," N'vanik cocked his head, "or am I really that unappealing?"
Talryne made a show of looking him over, her grin not fading. "You're certainly not hard on the eyes, bronzerider... but I imagine you know that already. If you can lead me to the klah, I'd be happy to share a mug with you." "Well alright then," N'vanik's grin widened, "The klah is this way, greenrider Talryne."
She'd promised herself that she'd be more careful this time around... that she'd spend less time getting friendly with the males of the Weyr. She couldn't seem to keep herself from flirting, though... and as she followed the handsome looking bronzerider into the Weyr, she didn't feel nearly as guilty as she should have.
