Description: Sabonus brings a little romance into Uetia's life
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 17 of Turn 5
Uetia inspected her reflection from the mirror and her hand moved to up
to arrange her hair once more. She had done everything she could to
appear pretty. Her blond hair was curled, she was wearing a dress (a
very rare occasion) and she even wore a hint of make-up (she had to ask
help with that). She felt terribly nervous and douple-checked if her
nose still looked red. She was past her cold but the residue-symptoms still
bothered her.
}: He comes, :{ Sirjath warned, slightly amuse by her rider's behavior.
**Shards, already!** she swirled around and nearly dropped the mirror.
She caught it on the air. She was cussing rather unfeminine way when he
entered.
"I'm not sure what I'm more impressed by, the catch or the language.
Salty as the sea. I like it." He smiled as his eyes traveled down her
dress appreciatively. "You look incredible."
"Thank's" Uetia said and her heart hammered when she placed the mirror
back to the table.
"Come on then." Sabonus reached out to take her hand and gently pulled
her closer. "Our dinner is ready."
"You look very handsome yourself," Uetia said and took his hand.
They made pleasant small talk as they walked, fingers linked, down
towards the docks. "I hope you have your sea-legs on under that dress,"
Sabonus said as they stopped in front of a small sailboat. A basket
full of goodies was already placed on the stern."
Uetia snorted, "I always have my sea-legs."
"Good." He hopped down onto the deck and reached up to help her down a
bit more gracefully. "Are you always hungry too? Because I swear they
packed enough for a dragon to eat."
"I sure are," Uetia replied. With a dress, she found it difficult to get
into the boat and was glad of his help.
"Good. The winds are favorable. We'll be on the open water in no
time." He jumped back onto the dock long enough to untie the heavy rope
that had held the ship in it's place. Jumping back down to the deck, he
shoved the boat off with practiced ease. "I take it you can handle the
tiller?"
"I take you can handle the sail," Uetia retorted back and went to take
the tiller. "I admit that the dress isn't the best one for this," she
was pretty sure the hem was soaking in bilge water.
"On the contrary," he smiled, "I love the dress."
It didn't take them long before they had reached the open water, far
enough from the Weyr that it was only a spot on the horizon, the only
light being the sun's last coppery rays. Sabonus tied off the tiller
and light candles along the rail. "When was the last time you were out
on the water like this?"
"Like this? Never," Uetia replied softly, watching the candles. It was
very romantic.
He was confused for a moment until he caught her meaning. "Ah. I mean,
out on the water in a boat."
"No, I'm mean the candles and the other setting," Uetia corrected him
gently. "No one's ever done something romantic like this to me before,"
she was getting bit misty eyed.
Sabonus looked at her over his shoulder as he lit the last candle. He
hadn't really thought it was all that original an idea for a seacrafter.
How is it no one had ever properly romanced this girl before? "Well,
someone _should_ have."
"Guess I hadn't med the right someone yet," Uetia mused.
"Well, I consider myself lucky, then." He spread a soft blanket down on
the deck. It wasn't great cushioning, but if she was as much of a
seafarer as he had believed she was, he was sure she had slept on the
deck many a night out under the stars, just as he had. "Come on," he
murmured as he took her hand to pull her down onto the blanket next to
him and the basket with their dinner.
Uetia's stomach fluttered. What would happen next? She was quit content
to let him set the pace.
Sabonus laid out their dinner of breads, cheeses and cold-cuts. He had
decided to forgo the rum and had opted for the red wine instead, hoping
that it wasn't too much. As he had predicted, he had packed too much
food, but neither minded. Food seemed a secondary concern next to the
fine company.
"Would you like to finish it off?" he asked, gently swirling the last
little bit of wine at the bottom of the bottle.
"Not nessessary, don't you want it?" Uetia asked.
"Well, we might get thirst on the way back." He gently re-corked the
bottle and set it at the bottom of the basket. Leaning back on his
elbows he looked up at the night sky. The moons were just rising, and
the light was causing the stars to fade, but created a lovely glow on
the greenrider's face. "You look... luminous."
"Thank's," Uetia said. "Look, Dragon's Head is rising from the east,"
she pointed a formation of stars.
He sat up once more to get a better view. "So it is. It's the right
season for it." And the harper and his drum was quite beautiful just
skimming the edge of the sea like that. But he wasn't all that
interested in seeing how many constellations they could name. He felt a
little selfish and wanted all her attention to himself. Leaning over,
he kissed her neck softly just under the ear, wondering what she would
do.
Uetia was seeing stars, but they weren't the ones in the sky. She made a
very soft moan.
The sound only encouraged him to continue, cupping her cheek and gently
guiding her closer. He had been admiring her neck for sevendays, and
had wanted to caress it with his lips as he was finally allowing himself
to do. Things had been going painfully slow, considering they both
lived in the Weyr, but he had wanted to wait until the time was right.
The way things were going tonight, he knew it was time to take things
beyond the limbo of mutual attraction that was always under the surface
but never clearly articulated. He wanted to make sure she was in no
doubt of where he wanted their relationship to go.
Uetia didn't dared to move so that she wouldn't startle him to stop.
Sabonus might have wondered if she sat perfectly still out of polite
acceptance except for the way her breathing was coming more quickly.
Instead, he considered the possibility that it might be something else.
He was sure she was not innocent. She was a greenrider, and he was
perfectly aware of all that meant. But she had said that she had never
been romanced before. Well, if that was the case, he would just have to
show her what to do. "Come here," he murmured softly as he pulled her
down to the deck with him.
Uetia didn't have to be told twice. "If you stop now, I'll kill you,"
she warned with husky voice and wrapped her arms around him, feeling the
muscles in his back.
"Did I tell you that I find girls who could kill me incredibly
attractive?" He grinned as he looked down at her. She definitely knew
what she wanted, and he was going to give it to her.
