K'sedel

K'sedel

C'rex asked his dragon to find out from the Weyrleader's bronze if
K'sedel was in his office and was glad to hear that he was. His arms
were full of reports from various wingleaders and wingseconds that
he'd been asked to deliver and he was glad to find out that the
Weyrleader would be there when he did. That way, he could honestly say
he'd delivered the reports directly to the man, instead of just
leaving them on his desk or something. He didn't have all the
wingleaders' reports, of course. Some had already turned theirs in or
were still working on them. But several had tasked the young man with
the duty of errandboy today.

Being too young to actually graduate from the Weryling wing to join a
fighting wing meant that he got a lot of extra duties. While he still
attended drills, and was helping the new Weyrlings as well, he also
helped out by gophering for the Werylingmaster's staff, or, on
occasion, other senior dragonriders. He didn't mind. It gave him
something to do, and a lot of extra experience involving the minutiae
of the Weyr's Wings. He might only be a few months shy of fifteen, but
he hoped to become a Wingthird one day. Duties like this, while not
glamorous, were certainly a way to get there.

The boy's musings were broken when he reached the Weyrleader's door.
He shifted the reports - drill reports, inspection reports, discipline
reports and so forth for the last month, to one hand so he could knock
on the door.

"Come!" called out the Weyrleader as another hide was signed and the ink
blotted before placing it on a pile destined for the archives.

"Weyrleader," the young bluerider greeted as he pushed open the door.
"I have some reports for you, sir." The stack in his arms began to
slip a little, so he adjusted his grip on the hides and pages,
suddenly worried he'd made it all the way here just to drop the
reports at K'sedel's feet.

"From R'syl?" Sometimes the Weyrlingmaster would send one of his assistants,
just to give them the practice at dealing with senior riders and holders
that they may encounter outside of the Weyr.

"His are here too, sir." He quickly rummaged through the stack and
separated several hides out to hand directly to the Weyrleader. The
rest of the pile was from other wingleaders, though without the
Werylingmaster's reports, it was much smaller.

"I see, do you want to put them all down on my desk, then if you could
separate them into those from each wing for me."

"Yes, Weyrleader." The boy made short work of stacking each set of
hides and paper pages neatly. The Weyrlingmaster's stack was by far
the largest of them when they were all laid out. C'rex supposed that
made sense. There would be a lot to report about when reporting about
weyrlings' progress and so on. He wondered if he might be able to
volunteer to help with that hidework. It would be one more thing, on
top of helping the newer Weyrlings during their drills and classes and
running errands, but it would be good experience for the future. He
filed the idea away for later.

"That's good," K'sedel told him. "Thank you..."

}:C'rex,:{ prompted Nikornath having spoken to the blue.

"C'rex. Please tell the Weyrlingmaster you have done a good job today."

The young bluerider smiled happily at the praise, "Thank you,
Weyrleader. Do you have anything you need delivered back to anyone,
since I'm headed that way anyway?"

"Not for the moment."

"Alright then, sir. Have a good day!" C'rex made his way out of the
Weyrleader's office, pleased with the outcome of this bit of
errand-running. Praise from the Weyrleader was much coveted and the
boy was hopeful he'd made a good impression for the future. If he kept
this up, one day he'd make Wingthird for sure.
