K'sedel

K'sedel

Spotting the Wingsecond at a table in the Dining cavern, C'pouk grabbed a
fresh pitcher of klah and weaved his way through the tables. "Wingsecond?
May I
join you?"

"Certainly Brownrider."

Taking a seat across from the man, C'pouk poured each a steaming mug. Thank
you. I... I wanted to apologize, sir."

"For?" K'sedel paused, giving C'pouk a chance to explain himself.

"I've been a little sloppy in drills the last few days," he said, forcing
himself to look the older man in the eyes.

"Something on your mind?"

"Not so much me as Uitgaandth, he has been exceptionally... uh, shall we say
randy lately."

"Chasing every green is he?"

"Constantly," he answered. "And when he isn't chasing, he is thinking about
it and talking abou tit."

"I see," K'sedel sat back in his chair, studying the young man. "How do you
feel about that?"

"Honestly? It is getting to be a bit embarassing."

"Have you tried explaining to him how you feel about this?" K'sedel realised
it was something he himself hadn't really had to deal with. Nikornath had
always preferred to chase after gold dragons and only occasionally greens.

"He doesn't understand why I'd object," he answered. "He thinks I should be
happy with all the..."

"I understand, but you need to explain to him that you aren't happy."
Probably easier said than done, but the one thing all dragons he was
acquainted with had in common was that they cared deeply for the welfare of
their riders.

"I'll try again, but he insists that I should enjoy all women he helps me to
meet." C'pouk chuckled, "he means well, I suppose. Was Nikornath ever like
that?"

"He knew I had a weyrmate, and I think that helped. I'm not advising that
you do that, but if you explain to him that you want to meet women in a more
normal fashion, by eating with them, talking to them and getting to know
them rather than through flights it might help."

"I suppose that is worth a try."

"Otherwise, you may need to have a chat with the Dragonhealers. They may
have ways of helping you and he to work through this."

"I hope it doesn't come to that," the young rider said. "It was hard enough
mustering the courage to bring this up with you."

"And I respect you for that. Sometimes courage isn't about brave deeds, it's
about facing up to difficult things and handling them."

C'pouk drained the last of his klah. "Thank you, very much, sir. Maybe I
should go talk to Uitgaandth now."

"You should."
