K'sedel

K'sedel

Salana sauntered into the weyrleader's office. At five and a half feet tall with white-blonde hair and sharp grey eyes, her features delicate and her curves pronounced, she was beautiful, and every step she took announced the fact that she knew it. She shot a dazzling smile at the weyrleader, teeth white, and perfectly straight, then lowered herself into a chair. "You wished to see me, weyrleader?"

"I did," he said suppressing a sigh. "I'm sure you know what this is about."

"No, I don't." There was a speck of lint on her shirt and Selana flicked it off. "Please, do tell."

That got her a raised eyebrow, and a stare. Playing dumb was not a good idea here. "Are you sure?"

Selana let one leg cross the other and leaned back, lacing her hands and resting them on her stomach and return the stare, saying nothing, her smile faded.

"Then I take it you know that your behaviour is unnacceptable, and just why that is so." He studied the greenrider for a moment, allowing time for her to realise that it was serious and why she was in his office. "There have been complaints."

"Complaints about what?" The greenrider sat up a bit straighter, one hand rising to play at her hair. "I haven't done anything wrong."

"That's a matter of opinion," he continued his study of the young woman, while he marshalled his thoughts. D'anaet had come to him the previous day,the boy was barely sixteen turns and was not particularly confident.
Also he was holdbred, which had meant the Weyr and it's ways came as a bit of a shock. "As I said, there were complaints of inappropriate behaviour."

Selana's lips pursed and she flipped at her hair again. "As I said before, I haven't done anything wrong. Someone must have something against me."

"Do I have to spell it out for you greenrider?" the Weyrleader's tone was deceptively mild. "I thought that you had more brains than this. Does the name D'anaet help?"

"What about him?"

"It's what you said to him, I could quote it, but I won't embarrass you with it."

"I have a feeling that D'anaet is greatly exaggerating things." Salana sighed dramatically and uncrossed her legs. "I meant no harm by anything, but if he takes what I say and twists it around, I can't help that."

"I very much doubt that," it had to have taken a great effort for the lad to come and speak to someone about it. "I suggest you think about it, and I'm going to give you a way to do just that. Two sevendays on night watch duty should suffice."

"What!?" Selana sat up straight. "This is unfair!"

"Unless you can tell me otherwise, the duty stands" suiggested K'sedel.
The threat of punishment might be enough to shock the truth out of her.

Salana opened her mouth as if to snap back a retort, then slumped back in her seat without saying a word, eyes burning. Finally she sniffed. "Is there anything else, Weyrleader?"

"Consider yourself dismissed."

Salana rose and sulked out of the room.

**It's not fair!**

Pareth said nothing but merely sent comforting thoughts to her rider.
