Characters: Eridhiya, M'van
Description: Eridhiya introduces herself to M'van and the pair speak about work and Mastery.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 6, day 6 of Turn 4
The dragonhealer carefully tidied the small office in the dragon infirmary. Since they had been without a Master of that craft, he'd been using that space occasionally to make the notes he needed in his case book. It was useful to have them, thought the bluerider, they were a point of reference.
Eridhiya saw someone at work and stopped. Was she in the right area?
"Hello?" she asked tentatively.
"Can I help you?" asked the bluerider.
"I'm Weyrdragonhealer Eridhiya." the greenrider said, trying it out. "Is this, ah, supposed to be my office? Or have I gotten turned around?"
"Ma'am," said M'van somewhat more formally. "This is indeed your office.
I'm M'van, Kiloth's rider and Senior Journeyman Dragonhealer. I was just making sure that everything was in order here."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, M'van." she said, extending her hand to him. "Have you been stationed here long?"
"A fair while," he said. "Long enough for my Weyrmate and I to start a family."
"Congratulations." she said with a warm smile. She wondered if he minded her presence at the weyr. "I suppose we'll be working together a fair bit."
"I'd imagine so," he said, still formally. "I hope you find all the notes on our current patients up to date. I spent some time putting the records in order."
"That would be very helpful. I'm sure I'll be able to find what I need in them." M'van seemed to be a very well-organized man. She approved.
"Patients with longer files would be ones with chronic injuries, I assume?"
"Correct, or possibly with more unsual injuries that have required something a little different. There are also some sketches and diagrammes included in those cases."
Very, very thorough records. Better and better. "Do you intend on your Mastery?" she asked him.
"I'd like to work for it, but between fall, and a child of two turns..."
He laughed a little, "Those are just excuses really, with a Master willing to mentor me, I'd make time."
"I would be willing." she told him. "The more Masters, the better."
"Then I'd like that, and I might win the wager with my weyrmate as to who will get their Mastery first!"
She laughed. "What's your weyrmate's craft?"
"She's a harper, she thinks she might make it in ten turns or so."
Eri had never had any talent for harpery, so she respected those who did. "I'm sure you'll receive yours before then."
"We'll have to wait and see."
"Is there anything you think I should be informed of right away?" she asked. "Anything I need to know before starting?"
"No, you should find everything in order Ma'am."
"Much appreciated."
"You're welcome," replied the bluerider.
"Do you want to order the office anymore, or can I start setting up?" The greenrider didn't mind waiting until tomorrow.
"I'm finished here."
"In that case, I'll start settling in." She smiled at him. "And at least you'll already know where to find me."
"Indeed," said M'van as he left the room.
