What happened?

Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 3, day 4 of Turn 4
Notes: Follows 'Shocking revelations'. Bit late, the post got delayed due various loa's and Lia's.

Eilomar had been drifting in and out of conciousness for sometime.
Finally the comforting darkness slipped away and he returned to his full senses. Unfortunately, his first concious memory was the image of his wife wrapped up with that dragonrider. The image seemed to have burned itself his brains. He couldn't push it aside, no matter how he tried.
Eilomar let out a loud groan.

"Eilomar?" a voice said gently. "Are you in pain?"

"Duh," Eilomar tried to reply, but his mouth was too dry.

"Master Eilomar, can you understand me?" Pacham asked gently, leaning closer to listen carefully.

"Yes, water," Eilomar croaked.

The Weyrhealer reached for the glass next to Eilomar's bed and gently helped him to bring the straw to his lips. "Are you feeling any better?"

"A bit," the harper replied. "My chest hurts. What happened?"

"You had a heart attack." Considering the master's size, Pacham was sure it came as little surprise. "It was not as bad as it could have been, but you were lucky. It was a small one."

"Oh," Eilomar said. He was quit and thoughtfull for a while. A brush with death could do that to you. "So, I'm going to recover?"

"This time, yes," the Weyrhealer nodded. "But you really _must_ lose some weight, Eilomar. Next time you might not be so lucky."

"Yes," Eilomar agreed subduedly. He certainly didn't want to give his wife _that_ pleasure. "Can I ask a favour? I have two daughters...if someone would write them and tell what's happened?"

Pacham nodded, glad that perhaps some good would come from this scare.
"Of course, we could do that. In fact one of our apprentices could scribe a letter for you, if wish."

"Thank you, I would appreciate it. Eilowyn, the oldest one, lives now at Amber Hills Hold and the younger one, Aileyan is greenrider at Dragonsfall Weyr. She's probably easier to reach."

The healer nodded his understanding. "We've also already sent for your wife, so I'm sure she will be here soon."

Eilomar just grunted. He rather doupted she would show up. He could remember the look in her eyes when she realized he was having a heartattack. Pure malice, it had been, he shuddered with the memory.

"Now, did you take the stairs too fast? Or did you have a very stressful day?" Pacham asked, trying to figure out what might have triggered the heart attack.

"Ah, let's just said I had a nasty surprise sprung on me," Eilomar replied.

"Well, nasty surprises are definitely to be avoided," the weyrhealer said sympathetically. "Anything you'd like to talk about?"

"No, not yet, anyway," Eilomar shook his head.

"All right. If you need to talk, though, just remember I'm only a quick word away." Pacham reached for a glace and placed it in the master Harper's hand. "Now, drink this and get some rest. That's the best thing for you right now."

"Yes, thank you," Eilomar replied.
