Description: Teykara's Yeulanth suffers an injury and M'van assesses it.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 3, day 16 of Turn 4
Teykara asked Yeulanth to turn herself around so that when the dragonhealer got to them he would be able to inspect her wingtip joint in the light from the huge bank of electric lights that flooded the so-called Weyrbowl with light.
}:It's just sore,:{ Yeulanth commented. }:I can still move it.:{ Teykara frowned as her dragon proved her point by extending the wing and moving the wingtip. **Well stop moving it until we find out whether you should be resting it or exercising it.**
"It's a good sign that she can do that," said the blond haired dragonhealer as he approached the pair.
"Is it? I thought she might need to be resting it." Teykara walked with the dragonhealer along the leading edge of her lifemate's wing.
"She says it's sore, but I've felt all over the joint and can't find anything wrong."
"It means that there is likely no underlying serious damage, with what you say. But I'm still going to examine her myself to make certain.
Will she mind if I do that?"
"No." Teykara laughed. "She's always happy for people to take an interest in her." The greenrider danced around, trying to get a good view of what the dragonhealer was doing without getting in his light.
"Do you think it might be because of the two Threadfalls in three days?"
She had been wondering about that since they landed and Yeulanth had admitted the injury. "I know we drill every day but Threadfall _is_
different and having two so close together is unusual."
"It is possible, certainly." M'van was more concentrating on his quick and deft examination of the green's wing, relying on touch, experience, and any reaction to help him determine if this were a sprain, or a sign of something deeper.
"She didn't say anything while we were in the air. Only when she furled her wings after we landed." Teykara didn't often hear herself gabbling on but couldn't seem to stop trying to explain. "And then she said it was 'sore.' Nothing worse."
"She's not reporting any aches or pains? No irritation anywhere?"
"Nothing, and I asked her about every single bit, one at a time."
Teykara sent a quick mental question to her green and then shrugged.
"Still nothing else and she's sick of telling me so, she says."
"I think it's likely a minor sprain. No flying for three days. If she's hungry I'd rather you butchered something for her. And we'll see you again then to review it."
"Thank you." Teykara's releif was evident in her tone. "I really appreciate it, M'van. Not that she wasn't telling me it would be all right, but riders always worry. Don't they?"
"I'm yet to meet one that doesn't."
Teykara found she was rubbing Yeulanth's neck in a reassurance the dragon didn't think she needed. "We'll see you in three days, then."
"And I'm sure that you and she will be fine."
Yeulanth was certain she would be and Teykara certainly hoped so.
