Cortana

Cortana

"Hello," D'ren said as he approached a slightly familiar young woman on the beach. "Cortana, is it?"

Cortana looked up from her sketchbook. "Yeah, and your D'ren?" How could she forget such a cute face?

"Yeah." The bronzerider smiled. "I thought I'd say hi, since we seem to be sharing this part of the beach."
Menanth was currently stepping into the waves ahead of them.

Anath bugled a welcome to the new dragon, swimming gracefully over to say hello.

"What a nice bronze you have D'ren. Such nice proportions." Cortana flipped to a new page in her sketchbook and quickly caught the now swimming Menanth on paper.

"Wow, that's really good! Did you have harper training before you Impressed?" he asked as he admired the sketch.

Cortana looked at it for a moment, and added a line to Menanth's neck, she then held it out at arms length. "It's not _that_ good. And I didn't have any special training. My sister married a pretty artistic Harper, but we didn't get much time to know each other before I left." She ripped the sketch out of her pad and offered it to him. "Do you want it?"

"Really? Sure." He took the offered page and looked at it again. It was a good likeness, especially for being done in such a short time. "Thank you."

"No problem." She patted the sand next to her. "Have a seat. You're a recent weyrling graduate right?"

D'ren sat beside her. "Yes. Just before the end of the turn."

"Been in any flights yet?" she asked.

He felt his cheeks warm. "Yes."

"Did you win?" She saw his blush only seconds after she asked. "I don't mean to be rude or anything. I'm just so curious about them. Since it won't be long now until Anath..." She let the sentence fall, turning back to her sketching, this time of the two dragons playing in the ocean. She stopped to look at Anath for inspiration, and couldn't help but smile. Even now it was to amazing to believe.

"Yeah. Menanth caught Lillyth." A smile spread across his face at the memory. It had been so wonderful.

"Oh congratulations! What was it like? Did you have sex after? Did you like her? _Was it a her?" Cortana blushed. "Sorry, you might be embarrassed by all those questions. I just want to be as prepared as possible." She shrugged. "You don't have to answer."

D'ren turned an even darker shade under his tan. "It was most definitely a she." The thought of catching a man's green made him more than a little uncomfortable.
"Dysali and I love each other, and the Flight brought things to a new level."

"That's so nice to have someone like that. I've always wondered what it'd be like, to be in love. I hope its as good as they say it is." Cortana smiled, her pencil unknowingly sketching a likeness of D'ren in the corner of her paper.

"It is." The bronzerider's smile was wistful. "I hope you can find someone like that."

"Aww thank you, your sweet." Cortana looked out at the two dragons in the ocean waves. "But I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet. I mean there's so many _men_
here." She grinned at him. "And I think I'll keep my flight options open for a while at least. Who knows, maybe I'll find mister right that way."

"Maybe." D'ren followed her gaze to the dragons for a moment and then looked back to her sketch pad. "What are you drawing now?"

Cortana tilted the page to show him. It was littered with doodles of him and the dragons in the ocean and some firelizards and a couple holding hands that was really walking further down on the beach. "Just doodles. My hand does it without my knowing sometimes." She grinned.

"Is that me?" he asked, pointing to the figure.

Cortana nodded. "Yup." "So I'm interesting enough to sketch?" he joked. "Oh your definitely interesting enough." Cortana winked at him.

"Oh, well, thank you." D'ren blushed again. "Ooh I have a blusher on my hands do I? You embarrassed types always give me the most fun." She said with a high air. She flipped to an older page of her sketchbook and slid up closer to him, so their bodies were practically touching. "Do you like this one?" She asked turning her body so her not so invisable breast were _that_ much closer to him. Yup, blushers were always the most fun.

"It's very nice," D'ren said, keeping his eyes firmly on the paper. For about five seconds. Just because he only wanted to be with Dysali didn't mean he didn't _notice_ anyone else. It was a quick glance, and he managed to keep his blush under control.

Cortana grinned at his slight blush and pulled back. "Sorry, you're just to cute to pass up D'ren." She grinned at him and backed up. "But I'll stop. Unless..." She leaned back into him and wagged one eyebrow suggestivly.

D'ren laughed, his nervousness easing. "No. There's only one woman for me. Unless of course, Menanth happens to catch your green when she Rises." If he was going to share a Flight with someone else, Cortana wasn't a bad choice.

"It won't be too long now." She said to him, looking at her green cavort in the waves. "I'd better see your smiling face come running to me when she decides to Rise." She told D'ren with mock severity. It wouldn't be _bad_ to have a friend or two at her Flight.

"It's really up to him," he nodded toward Menanth. "But I'll put in a good word."

"And I'll make sure Anath is well aware of him." She said decicevely. She stood and brushed off her backside, offering a hand to help D'ren up. "I think I've had enough of the sunset for this evening. Are you _sure_ I can't tempt you back to my weyr?" she asked, winking broadly to show her jest.

"Sorry, but no." The bronzerider smiled. "Have a good evening, Cortana."
