Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 10 of Turn 3
N'vanik admired the young woman's hips as he approached her. **I'd love to get my hands on that.** So, it was time to turn on the charm. "Hello there," he said, stepping up beside her. "I'm N'vanik, rider of bronze Loseth. Welcome to Cyan."
She smiled shyly, as she continued un-doing her green's straps. "Thank you. I'm Maiz, and this is Indyath." "Nice to meet you," he said. "I haven't seen you around before, so I'm guessing you're a transfer?"
"Yes," Maiz confirmed. "I just arrived here from Vista Point."
N'vanik couldn't help snorting. "Vista Point, huh? I Impressed there."
"Really? Maybe your Loseth is related to Indyath then," she wondered aloud. "I suppose it's possible." He shrugged. "Though I Impressed a good few turns ago, and things change." Especially during a Pass.
"Good point," Maiz conceeded. She had Indyath's straps off now, and was neatly coiling them to be put away.
"So what brings you to Dragonsfall?" N'vanik asked.
"I needed a change." The answer was short. Succinct.
Practiced. "Dragonsfall seemed like as good a place as any."
"I don't know about that. You missed winter." He joked.
"Well, maybe I'll be attached enough to Dragonsfall by the time next winter rolls around that it won't seem like such a hardship. If I'd arrived in the middle of winter I might have just given up and left."
N'vanik chuckled. "There were plenty of times I wanted to get out of here. But I found ways too keep warm."
Maiz knew exactly what he had meant by that, but she decided to play dumb, hoping he would let it drop. "A few extra furs and a glass or so of wine and I'm sure no one feels the cold."
"I prefer a nice warm body _between_ the furs myself,"
the bronzerider said with a grin.
Unable to ignore that statement, or pretend she didn't understand, Maiz blushed deep red. "Indyath and I need to go now. She needs a bath."
}:I need a bath too,:{ Loseth said quickly. N'vanik chuckled. "Well, it seems my great bronze beast would like to join you. Hope you don't mind." Although a greenrider that blushed at such a small hint of flirtation might not be worth his time, it was still worth a try.
Maiz shrugged. "Indyath and I can't really take up the whole lake, can we?"
"Not even Loseth can take up the whole lake," N'vanik said. The large bronze rumbled in agreement, pleased that he would be enjoying the company of a new green.
"I suppose we'll see you over there then," Maiz said, as she turned to mount Indyath for the short flight to the lake.
The weyrlake was often crowded after drills, but they managed to find an open spot. Loseth got busy flirting as soon as his rider had dismounted. After asking his dragon to stay still for the second time, N'vanik gave up and turned to Maiz. "So, what do you like to do for fun?"
His question suprised her. Maiz shrugged, "I don't know. 'Fun' hasn't really been in my vocabulary.
Weyrlinghood was too exhausting for it. Before that I was trying to keep up with my twins. Before that..."
she let that part of history go un-said. "Not to mention that I'm holdbred."
"That's a shame," he said, teasing. "I could show you a few ways to have fun, if you're interested."
Again, she blushed deep red and didn't reply. "That's an interesting color for a greenrider." And it brought up a question. "How long have you been in a Weyr?"
"Three turns," Maiz replied. She knew what he would think... a girl who has been in a Weyr for so long should certainly be far more comfortable with its way of life.
"Three turns, and you blush at a comment like that?"
N'vanik laughed. "What, did you live under a rock at the Weyr?"
That comment stung because it hit so close to home.
"Something like that," she replied curtly.
**Hmmm, that hit a nerve.** }:Be nice,:{ Loseth urged before he could open his mouth.
"Is that why you came here? To get out from under that rock?" N'vanik said. It was nicer than what he was originally going to say.
"Yes," Maiz whispered. She took a deep breath. "I apologize if I've been rude. It wasn't intentional."
"Eh, you don't need to apologize." He waved a hand.
She was done scrubbing Indyath and sent the green out into the deep water to rinse. "Indyath is all done now. We're off to out weyr for oiling. I suppose I'll see you around... considering we are in the same wing and all."
"You let me know if you need help learning how to have fun," N'vanik said, taking another glance down at her hips.
"Okay," she sounded a bit doubtful. The bronzerider chuckled to himself. **She could be a fun one to teach . . .**
