I'serin

I'serin

}:Excuse me.:{ Roxarith called out to Aluneth, the young bronze dubious but willing to approach the older bronze at his rider’s insistence. }:We apologize for disturbing you. If you are free, would you ask Yours a question, for Mine?:{

His quiet sunning interrupted, Aluneth cracked open one eye. }: Yes? :{ he sent back, though not in the same caustic tone he would have used with a green dragon.

}:I do not think it is so,:{ Roxarith asserted, }:But Mine has dealt with an unpleasant green and feels he must ask Yours if a dragon might… make the wrong choice.:{ He _didn’t_ sound happy.

Aluneth did not need to ask his rider such an obviously answered thing. His snort could be heard across their conversation. }: No. A dragon never makes the wrong choice. Whoever said that was incorrect. :{

}:That is exactly what I said.:{ Roxarith asserted in response. }:I am a bronze. I especially would not make the wrong choice.:{

}: Precisely, :{ Aluneth agreed. }: Then what is the problem? :{

}: Mine says Yours is more experienced, and may know more.:{ Roxarith said, sounding a bit put out. }:I think he is just happy to know another friendly bronze rider.:{

A pause. }: Is there not another bronze dragon in your clutch? :{

}:There is Melciroth.:{ Roxarith responded, with an inaudible snort. }:We do not like him or his rider.:{

Aluneth considered this. There were bronzes that he also did not like, for various reasons. }: That will happen. Though you will still need work with them as a teammate because that is what we dragons do in order to defend Pern. :{

}:If Melciroth does his job and I mine, that is what matters.:{ Roxarith agreed. }:Mine says, when we are older, we can fly other places, and visit those who _are_ friends. Like Sebeth and His, or Ishath and His, or Yours.:{

}: Mine would like that, :{ Aluneth replied. }: He does enjoy speaking with other bronzeriders. He does not wish for the next generation to struggle as he did. :{

}: ... Yours has helped Mine.:{ Roxarith confirmed. }:Mine has said that if he was not welcome at a Weyr, he would not have met me. But he has. So all is well.:{ he finished with perfect logic. }:I would have left with him if we were not welcomed, of course. He still thinks Dragonsfall is the best.:{

}: It has its charm, :{ Aluneth agreed. }: When you are old enough, you are welcome to come visit us. I’serin will make time in his schedule, I am certain. :{

}:We are not ready to go everywhere.:{ Roxarith conceded. }:But we will be soon, and then we will come there first.:{ he added. }:Mine asks how is your rider?:{

The coppery bronze tilted his head to the side as he formulated a response to this curious question. }: He…is working through many things but he has a mate who makes him happy, :{ he answered, choosing his words carefully so as not to reveal I’serin’s secret to the young dragon.

Roxarith thought about that. }:I make Mine happy. But… he does not have a mate.:{ He added with clear trepidation. }:Mine does not need one, anyway.:{

Again, there was a pause while the elder bronze formulated a careful response. }: Perhaps not now. Perhaps never. Humans will often choose, or forego, a human partner. But there is no guarantee on that and you should not concern yourself. They will always be your lifemate. :{

}:Yes.:{ Roxarith repeated. }:I must focus now, but Mine wishes to thank you and Yours for your time and he says you may also talk to us, if either of you would like.:{

}: When you are able to traverse /between/, come visit us. We will show you the sea cliffs, :{ Aluneth offered politely. }: Study well, Roxarith. Do your fellow bronzes proud. :{

}:I should like to see sea cliffs.:{ Roxarith responded, though he'd no idea what a sea cliff actually was. Presumably a cliff near the sea.

}:We look forward to seeing you and Yours.:{ Roxarith told Aluneth readily. }:Mine says thank you once again, to both of you.:{
