}:Mine.:{ Miokuth's thoughts fell across I'zari's awareness, a gentle sort of ripple belying the blue's anxiety. }:Jagobroth says his rider comes.:{

“... Right. I'm available.” I'zari told his blue to pass on, and resisted the impulse to fidget with the bandage over his eyes.

The Healers had said to wait.

S’kand’s first instinct when he entered was to hide the worrisome wince from his expression. But it was not as though I’zari would see it. No, he had to worry more about the tone of his voice.

“How are you holding up?” he asked.

“... Sir.” I'zari greeted quietly, turned his head toward S'kand politely. “I… suppose it… Well. I'm not.. .” He tried, then trailed off, before he rallied again. “The Healers are just being cautious. I… Miokuth says the rest of the Wing adapted well when we had to between away?”

“We handled it just like we trained,” said S’kand. He expected I’zari to find a silver lining, even if there was not much of one to be had. “They’ll all be glad to hear you’re awake. Anything you need, you know we’ll all be right there for you. All you have to do is say the word. Most of them probably won’t even wait for you to ask.”

“I'll have Miokuth reach out if we need anything, sir.” I'zari promised. “And… the Healers said I could have been hurt much more seriously. My face doesn't even hurt that much, and I've got all four limbs.” It was, perhaps, a bit of an exaggeration, but I'zari was doing his best to stay calm.

It could always be worse. Unless it was the worst, anyway, and then there would be nothing for the lost ones to suffer. That would be left to the survivors.

S’kand suspected the lack of pain was probably thanks to numbweed. He seemed a bit too lucid for there to be an appreciable dose of fellis involved.

“There’s always something to be thankful for, isn’t there? Do you have anyone you can talk to who doesn’t need you to find it?”

I'zari hesitated. “Miokuth is… a little fretful.” He offered all he could think to say. “But I'm-- I can have him reach out to friends if we need.”

“If you need me, my door is always open. I understand it’s not quite the same. But if you need me,” said S’kand.

“I… Thank you.” I'zari told him quietly but no less sincerely.

}:Thank you.:{ Miokuth added to the Wingleader's dragon after only a little prompting. }:I am sure we will fly with you as soon as Mine is healed.:{

}:We look forward to it,:{ said Jagobroth. And he believed it. If Miokuth said his rider would heal, then obviously, he would.

“Of course,” said S’kand. “Well. I can get out of your hair if you’re ready to rest a bit. Need me to make sure they feed you proper?”

“... Please do.” I'zari responded lightly. “I'm half concerned the Healers might try to bring me _soup_.”

“Oh, the horror. It’s too hot here for soup, anyway!” S’kand chuckled. “What’s your favorite?”

“... Some roasted herdbeast would be appreciated. If you _truly_ don't mind.” I'zari responded. “... And a bit of bubbly pie?”

“You’ll have it, even if I have to bring it myself,” S’kand promised.

“... Thank you, Wingleader.” I'zari told him.

“Always.”
