Tr'vel

Tr'vel

}:Mine.:{ Miokuth's voice nudged I'zari awake-- when had he started to doze off? Still... it was something to do. And his injuries weren't aching as much.

}:Mine.:{ Miokuth repeated, the blue's presence pressing against his awareness, offering affection. }:Eboroth's wants to meet with us.:{

"... Right." I'zari exhaled. "Tell them we're free. Ask them where they want to meet us."

}:Mine is willing.:{ Miokuth passed on obediently. }:Where do you want us to come?:{

}:Please come to the Wingleader's office,:{ Eboroth said gently and politely.

}:We come.:{ Miokuth responded. A brief hesitation, and then the blue added, }:I cannot fit in the tunnels. Mine apologizes if he is late.:{

}:Mine will come help yours if he wants, but Tr'vel says he will not assume.:{

Miokuth fretted, eyes on the tunnel his I'zari had gone into and crouched low. }:Please help Mine.:{ he said, simply. }:He is close, he thinks.:{

Tr'vel hurried out to the corridor and soon found I'zari making slow progress toward the office. "Ah, I see you're using the cane. Good. Would you like me to take your other arm?" It was always hard to see a rider, especially a young one, trying to adjust to a new disability. But as long as I'zari didn't wallow in despair too long and give up, he _would_ adjust, and Tr'vel would be there to help in any way that he could.

I'zari offered a faint smile of relief in response. "I don't mind." He told Tr'vel. "I'm... To be honest, I'm a little bit turned around, even with knowing where Miokuth is, and the Healers say it will take... practice, to avoid walking confidently straight into a wall." He added, and extended his free arm. "Thank you for the offer. I accept."

"You'll likely find you're more capable than you think you are. But it's good to take it slow at first and ask for help if you need it." Tr'vel took his arm gently. "This way." He led the younger rider down the hall.

"Miokuth is fretful." I'zari offered up. "We... well. I find it a little easier to be outside, mostly because he can be _right there_. Keeping watch. Indoors, he can't exactly fit." He tried a wry smile he didn't really feel. "The cane at least ensures I won't walk right into a wall. Thank you for helping." He added. "The Healers do say it will get easier."

They reached the office and Tr'vel pushed open the door. "We're here. I'll step in first and guide you through." He was careful to make sure I'zari didn't run into the doorframe. "The chair is here," he said as he set the man's hand on the back of it. "Do you need help sitting?"

"I'm all right." I'zari hurried to assure, turning his head in Tr'vel's direction. He let his hand trace along the backrest of the chair, and then an armrest, before he lowered himself to sit. "... What did you want to speak with me about, sir?"

}:Will you be much longer, Mine?:{ Miokuth fretted. }:Do you need help? Did you get there?:{

**Hold on, Miokuth. Yes, I made it.** I'zari thought back. "... Apologies. Miokuth was just checking on me."

With a small nudge from his rider, Eboroth flew down to join Miokuth. }:Yours is fine. Tr'vel is with him, so there is no need to worry.:{ He gently rubbed his muzzle against the other blue's neck.

"I wanted to welcome you to Lightning Wing." I'zari couldn't see his smile, but he could probably hear the slight humor in Tr'vel's voice. "I know it's not everyone's favorite."

Miokuth made an unhappy sound, and crouched lower, though he didn't move away from Eboroth. }:I cannot fit inside the tunnels to help him.:{ he responded to the other blue. }:Will Yours show him the way out when they are done?:{

I'zari hesitated, and then tried a small smile of his own, even if he couldn't _see_ the other rider-- his new Wingleader. "I'm grateful to still belong to a Wing." He responded quietly. "I promise we'll do our best. Miokuth and I both."

Eboroth considered a moment. }:If yours needs help, yes.:{

"Take all the time you need to adjust," Tr'vel said. "But once you're ready, I can assign you duties you feel you're capable of doing. And you might want to consider taking up a craft. I know that might sound impossible, but my weyrmate's ex-wife is blind, and she's an accomplished singer in the Northern Harper Hall."

I'zari nodded, slowly. "I'll keep that in mind, sir." He promised. "I... I'm not sure I'd be much use as a Crafter. At least-- I only ever dabbled at Healercraft, and then I Impressed Miokuth." Also, he'd probably make a mess of the place if he tried to help now.

"If not formal crafting, maybe taking up a skill or a hobby. And I do run simple drills and exercises to help keep the dragons fit, so I'll expect you and Miokuth to join us eventually," Tr'vel said. "I want you to have as full a life as possible, so let me know if there's anything I can do to help."

I'zari nodded, slowly, as he thought that over. "I... I'd like to be more certain on my feet before I join drills, sir." He offered up quietly once more. "But I'm willing."

Miokuth lashed his tail, though he was careful not to bonk Eboroth. }:I will protect us, Mine!:{ he insisted.

}:Be calm, Miokuth,:{ Eboroth said gently. }:Your rider isn't in danger.:{

"_Eventually_," Tr'vel emphasized. "But I will give you one assignment for now -- I want you to meet with at least a few of your new wingmates. It can be one on one, but if you really want a challenge you can have lunch with us." The humor was clear in his voice.

Miokuth made an unhappy sound, and rested his muzzle against Eboroth. }:I do not like him being where I cannot help.:{ the blue confided.

"If you have Eboroth tell them, or tell Miokuth where they are, I'll... I'll reach out to them." I'zari responded. "I'm... working back up to the crowded dining cavern."

}:I understand. But humans can help other humans, too,:{ Eboroth said.

"I'll ask around and have a few people get in touch with you through Miokuth." Tr'vel already had a list. "The full experience of a meal with Lightning Wing can wait."

}: ... Like how the Healers gave Mine that stick.:{ Miokuth agreed, still a little unhappy. }:I am better than a stick.:{

"Thank you, sir." I'zari told him, with another nod. "Or Wingleader, if you would rather." So far Tr'vel had been nothing but helpful, and he was grateful for it.

}:You are much better than a stick,:{ Eboroth agreed. }:But your rider must do some things without you.:{

"Either is fine," Tr'vel said. "Let me know if you have any questions or concerns, but otherwise I'll let you go."

Miokuth made a low, unhappy sound.

"I... do have one question." I'zari allowed, quietly. "Well... two, to be honest. When will you want us for a Lightning Wing drill, or will someone reach out to Miokuth? And... if you'd be so kind to show me back to the main tunnel, thank you."
