Br'elt

Br'elt

}: When can we see Sondrith and her rider again? :{ was the question that Werreth had kept asking throughout the next two sevendays.

Until finally, one day, Br'elt let out an exasperated laugh and said, "Just ask her!" He wasn't going to deny that he was trying to figure out a way to see D'boran again that didn't seem _too_ eager. He shouldn't sit on it for much longer though. Then he'd look uninterested.

}: I will! :{ And then there was that tense quiet on the link between them as Br'elt assumed that Werreth was talking with Sondrith.

It took no time at all to get the green on board with dislodging her rider from his work. }:Would you like to go for a little flight? We could drop our riders off anywhere where Mine can't touch his notes,:{ Her tone was fond exasperation. }:His shift ended an hour ago but he's still here.:{

D'boran was oblivious to the plotting of the dragons until he suddenly jerked his head up from his hidework, "Why should I change my shirt?"

}:Shush, dear. I'm making plans.:{ To Werreth she added, }:Unless there was something else you had in mind?:{

}: A little flight is perfect! :{ Werreth agreed. }: We can take a skim over the waves up the river if you want. :{ The brown dragon nearly did a little prance in place. Why hadn't he thought of just _asking_ Sondrith before?

}:Oh, that's a wonderful idea, the river is so lovely. Sometimes you can see your own reflection when you fly over it.:{ Sondrith's tone was practically a purr.

**Who are you talking to, you ridiculously vain lizard?**

She ignored her rider.

}: Now? Would now work? :{ Werreth asked the green. }: Or do you want to go later? :{

}:Well, I would like to go now, but my rider is hardly in a state to entertain yours. He's quite a mess. Does yours also need to be attended to?:{ Sondrith said it in the way someone would ask if a small child needed to be watched.

D'boran got a funny look from an apprentice when he suddenly slammed his notebook down. **What are you plotting?**

}: Mine can come over and help him become an un-mess! :{ Werreth offered eagerly. }: Br'elt! Sondrith's rider needs help being...uh attended to? I'm not sure what that means but maybe you can help him with that. And once he's ready, we can go river-skimming! :{

"Already got our afternoon planned?" Br'elt chuckled. "Alright, I'll go talk with D'boran first. I assume he's in the Infirmary?"

}: I'll ask Sondrith. :{

}:Of course he's in the infirmary,:{ Sondrith said, as if he'd just asked if water was wet. }:He'd sleep there if I let him,:{ there was affection when she said it, but also exasperation.

To her rider, she said, }:Werreth's is going to come over to fetch you. I want to spread my wings.:{

D'boran frowned, even as he stood and went to wash the ink off his hands, **Why does he need to fetch me for you to spread your wings?**

}:Because.:{ Came the succinct reply.

"Is your dragon plotting against you as well?" Br'elt asked jovially as he strode in a few minutes later.

"Sondrith is always plotting against me," D'boran said, still trying to remove some remnants of ink from the cuff of his sleeve. "She hatched just to torment me. What brings you to the infirmary today? Is Werreth well?"

"Aside from annoying me about seeing Sondrith again, Werreth is just fine," Br'elt answered. He slid into an open chair, reversing it so that he could brace his elbows on the back of it as he grinned at D'boran. Shells, he was kind of cute in that nerdy little way. "Sounds like the two of them want to get out. Go flying somewhere. Wanna join me?"

"I- well-my notes you see. I'm. I'm very busy," D'boran's tone sounded more flustered than negative, and when he ran his hand through his hair, the dampness made it stick up more. "I was about to go see..." Despite his words, it was a quiet day in the Infirmary, and every patient seemed to be attended to. It was a lot harder to say no when he looked back at the handsome brownrider. "... Or I suppose fresh air is good for the health. Where were you going?"

}:I knew he'd agree.:{ Sondrith said smugly. Werreth was ecstatic.

"Not far," Br'elt promised. "Just a quick flight up the river. A quick jaunt out of the Weyr for a change of scenery. Honestly, I hear taking breaks like that is really good for your mind. Let's you reset your thoughts."

D’boran blinked, then nodded a bit too quickly. “Yes, well, I"resetting thoughts sounds... very healthy.” He turned quickly, nearly knocking a mug off his desk. “Um. Just let me"grab my satchel. In case there’s... a need. For notes. Or first aid. Or something.” He flushed as he did in fact retrieve a small, well worn bag.

Br'elt decided right then that the greenrider was adorable.

"First aid?" he echoed teasingly.

"Well, there could be... some sort of accident. You never know when someone might... fall. Or get bit by... something. I like to be prepared for anything." D'boran was blushing in earnest now. "Anyway we should go." As if they had some timeline on this.

Absolutely adorable, Br'elt decided. Their dragons were eagerly waiting outside. Werreth was prancing in place as Br'elt went to mount. "I think Sondrith has the place mind?" Br'elt said to D'boran. Maybe, if he could convince the greenrider, they could go for a little swim.

D’boran’s smile went tense as he realized of course this must have all been Sondrith’s idea, and Werreth had probably just dragged his rider along. “Oh, yes, I know where she’s trying to take you. And there’s some fields nearby that have some useful plants. I could show you where we get some of the infirmary supplies…” The greenrider’s hobbies and his work had a lot of overlap. With a satisfied air, Sondrith leapt into the sky to lead them to her favorite spot as soon as her rider was settled.
