“I know I asked for your referral as a favor. I know I really wanted this job. I even know I really enjoy it. But I just wish I’d paid a little more attention to who I was going to be working for before I did it.” Viseya sighed, taking a drink from a glass that had as much rum in it as juice. She had her feet tucked up underneath her where she sat on Aydhan’s couch, her glass free hand idly picking at a snag on the knitted blanket.
"So what is the problem, exactly?" Aydhan asked. Her own glass had enough rum in it that [Trash Lizard] recoiled after a cursory sniff, much to Aydhan's amusement. "You've never had a hot Wingleader before? They make flying in circles over the Weyr a little less boring."
“I did, and the fantasizing is fun, but if I’d known, I could have waited a little longer on the promotion, done a test romp, you know?” Viseya let out a long sigh, “I don't remember him looking that good the last time I knew him. Well. I didn't know him then exactly, but you know how bronzeriders are. Noticeable.”
Aydhan did not try to hide her laugh. She liked the attention, but the preening from the flyboys was more amusing than anything. "I'm familiar, yes." She said dryly, "It's never too late for a test romp. And if you'd done it before, you wouldn't have gotten the full experience. You can both be hot for Weyrlingmaster now."
Viseya made a dismissive gesture, “No, I’m not a goldrider. When I sleep with my ‘leader people roll their eyes and mutter ‘greenrider’ under their breath. And I genuinely like the job. Working with the weyrlings is fun.” She sighed, leaning back on the couch and putting her arm over her eyes dramatically, “I just have to resign myself to looking but never touching.” It was said in the same tone one might use to share a terminal diagnosis.
"Sorrows, sorrows." Aydhan intoned sympathetically. "It might just be a matter of time, you know. What if Xmrenth catches Cholsinth? You don't want to be so pent up you don't enjoy the ride. Pent-up sex is better without the dragons."
“Well, I'm just going to hope that doesn't happen. And if it does we will just be professional. I just don’t understand what I missed back at River Bluff. He was just… there. Nothing really remarkable. I wasn’t fantasizing about doing things that are probably against healer’s orders,” Viseya admitted.
"Viseya, my love." Aydhan reached across the couch to place her hand consolingly on hers. "Healer's orders are to blow that man's back out. Ride him so hard he has to call in sick. To you. I'm a healer, I know what I'm talking about."
“You do know he has a heart condition, yes?”
The surprise that crossed Aydhan's face proved she didn't, though it only made her burst into barely restrained giggles. "Fine, ride him hard enough to give him palpitations. But if it's the heart condition you're worried about, he's probably fine. The general rule is that if he can climb a flight of stairs, he can put that desk to good use."
Viseya joined in with the giggles, “So, you’re saying the next time we’re walking back from an outdoor class I should make sure to suggest a route that includes a couple flights of stairs to make sure it’s safe? I’m not looking for a promotion.”
"Just go on a walk around the harbour. If the _both_ of you can hold up a conversation the entire way around, you can reward yourself with a naughty romp in a storeroom before Cholsinth has to come get you."
Downing the rest of her drink, Viseya finally got her giggling under control, complaining, “A store room doesn’t have quite the same sex appeal as the desk. Don’t ask me why but it doesn’t.”
"Against some shelves is not as sexy." Aydhan agreed, "And you still have the thrill of getting caught without risk of anything falling on you."
“Yeah, but with the desk, it’s more likely we’d be caught by the weyrlings. I think ‘shocked a weyrling to death’ is probably a firing offense. Hopefully it just fades away. Maybe the teens have rubbed off on me and I have a little crush. Is there more rum?”
Aydhan gestured for Viseya to help herself to the bottle, holding out her cup for the greenrider to fill as well. "That's what locking the door is for." Aydhan said wisely. "Though the current batch is old enough that it'd just cause a bit of awkwardness. It's probably only a health issue right after the hatching. Do you know what the cure for a little crush is?"
Almost knocking the bottle on the floor in an attempt to retrieve it without getting up, Viseya said, “If you say ‘get under them’, I’m not pouring you any more rum.” She did, however, pour herself a generous splash.
"No, I was going to say get _over_ him."
Making aggressive eye contact, Viseya doubled her shot, making no move to offer the bottle back to Aydhan. “Well, with my bad leg, I prefer when they do the work, but I’ll take it under advisement.”
"Surely the ride would be worth it." Aydhan said dreamily and took another sip from her glass. "But imagine how nice his hands would feel, supporting you."
Viseya gave a dreamy, slightly drunken sigh. “I can think of a lot of things I’d like those hands to do. I’ll tell you now, someone is getting spanked on a desk in my next story.”
Aydhan straightened, grinning like she'd had the next bright idea, "I bet using those hands won't trigger the heart condition. Less full-body cardio, you know. Start small and work your way up. You'll need to practice so you can accurately describe those love scenes."
Snorting, Viseya said, “No one reads my stories because they want accurate love scenes. Accurate is boring. People throw their back out and things get messy when it’s accurate.”
"Think of all the poor fools like myself who think we can definitely do those positions in your books." Aydhan said with an exaggerated sigh, "My weyrmate is old and his back spasms."
“He did alright when I took him for a test run in Cholsinth’s last flight,” Viseya protested. “That beard is out of hand though.”
"If he's not complaining afterwards, you either didn't go hard enough or he's still being polite." Aydhan said with a good natured roll of her eyes. "He'll see to it once the focus on his sweet precious darling child fades." She gestured towards the gold firelizard that napped on the specialty hammock dangling from the ceiling. "If I'm lucky he won't just shave the whole thing off."
With a shrug, Viseya said, “He might have been being polite. I’m fairly certain he was trying to remember my name, the poor thing." Glancing towards the firelizard, she said, “Well, at least he’s not wearing her around.”
"He has." Aydhan said. "If he catches us here he'll shush us. Baby needs her beauty sleep. I don't think she's moved an inch since we started drinking."
“She doesn’t seem too bothered,” Viseya agreed, eyeing the sleeping firelizard before turning back to Aydhan. “So, what’s the latest queens wing gossip I’ve been missing?”
