N'kayden

N'kayden

After seeing Ketlyn at Aydhara's birthingday celebration, N'kayden had come to a difficult decision. He was going to have to seek out someone to _show him_ 'around the bedroom,' so to speak. While he didn't know enough about sex to be good at it, he certainly knew enough to realize that what he and Ketlyn had done... Had been _horrible_.

He didn't blame the greenrider at all. He felt that the problem lie with him, and thus, it was up to him to fix things

Even though it had been difficult, and slightly risky, N'kayden had made sure to be near the flightrooms the last several times a green dragon had shot to the sky. He'd carefully noted _who_ the flightmoths were and which ones seemed to show up often and were then highly sought after by the 'losers.'

He'd settled on a redhead. She looked to be in her mid-twenties. Some of the flightmoths had been _much_ older, which had just intimidated N'kadeyn more. No, he'd wanted someone who wasn't _too_ much older than he was.

Steeling himself with a short exhale, N'kayden approached the woman where she sat in the Dining Cavern.

"Mind if I sit here?" he asked, pointing to the chair across from her.

She looked up, then smiled. "Sure. N'kayden, right? You're Aydhan's kid. Congratulations on Impressing Aberath."

**"Aydan's kid."** What a spear to his already fragile ego. "Oh, ah, thanks," he said, smiling, trying to recover. "I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage. Your name?"

"Lynavia, in full. But some people call me Lyn or Nava," she said, oblivious to his discomfort. "I work in the kitchens, mostly. I baked today's cake." She pointed at the large slice on N'kaden's plate. "Some of them, anyway. I choose to believe you've chosen one of mine!"

"Nava," N'kayen repeated with a smile. He took a bit of the cake and said, "It's delicious, so I'm sure it _is_ one of yours."

She smiled coyly. "There you go, then."

"I, uh, I sort of have a proposition for you," N'kayden said, a bit of a flush coming across his cheeks.

"Oh?"

The brownrider's eyes narrowed marginally. "If I tell you something, can you keep it just between us? What I need to tell you has the reputation of a girl, a lady, um... a friend involved, and I don't want anything being said about her."

Nara's eyes widened in surprise. They'd literally just met and he wanted to tell her something in confidence?! The urge to warn him to keep his mouth shut was fleeting. "Sure. What's going on?"

"So our Weyrlingmasters encourage us to have sex before first flights," N'kayden said, since that was rather common knowledge to anyone living in a Weyr for any length of time. "Which I did, with a friend, and well... It was horrible. I think I need more experience with someone who _has_ experience.... That's where you come in."

Lynavia sat back, a bit disappointed at the lack of scandal. **Was that all?** And who was this girl that he was so worried about? The whole situation reflected badly on the weyrling in front of her, not his little lover. She looked him over, weighing whether she wanted to go through with this or not. He was attractive but a few Turns younger than she liked, but if what he said was true then she'd be doing the entire Weyr a favour. And it might be fun. It was certainly fun to watch him squirm as she considered his proposition.

"Is that how you asked that poor girl to sleep with you? Because if it is, then you _do_ need my help."

N'kayden's eyebrows bunched as he groaned. "See? I've got this girl thinking _that_ is what romance and sex is like. She's probably sworn off sex for life. I can't leave things like that. Please. I _need_ your help. I'd like to say I'll somehow make it worth your while but.... You'll reap what you sow. I'll put it to good use, I swear. Teach me."

She laughed, covering her mouth with her hand. "Oh Farnath. All right, all right! But you'll owe me a favour of my choosing in the future, brownrider."

Relief washed through him. "Thank you so much. I'll be forever in your debt." And then there was that natural male gleam in his eyes. "And when do we start?"

"Goodness, don't rush a girl!" Nava said, putting a hand up as if to ward him off. "We've only just met. Here's what you're going to do, N'kayden. You are going to meet me in the Dining Cavern tonight and you are going to bring me a present. Something small. And we are going to eat dinner and have a conversation. If you're not in a Flight room, you are _not_ in a hurry."

The young brownrider sighed a little. He wanted to learn how to fix his mistake _right now_. But, she was the teacher. Clearly, his own instincts only brought disaster.

"Dining Cavern, present, conversation. You got it."

"Good." She winked at him. "Don't look so glum. You came to the right person. We can sort you out."

N'kayden choked on a bite of his cake. "_We_?"

""You and me together. You're not ready for a third," she said, nonplussed.

"Oh, Faranth, thank you," N'kayden said with relief.

}:We have class,:{ Aberath chimed in.

He finished wolfing down the cake and stood. "Milady, I shall see you this evening," he bowed, and managed to actually give a charming wink and smile before departing.

She waved him off and turned back to her meal. **Lesson two will be to tell him to not call me m'lady!**
