Arippa tossed the sheet on the table with a growl of intense anger.
"Faldrimme!" she yelled as she got up from her comfortable chair. The
baby immediately started crying and she covered her face with her
hands.

Faldrimme came trotting up the stairs to Arippa's sitting area with a
puzzled expression. "What is it?"

Arippa was already on her feet going to calm the baby and she pointed
at the table. "Read that," she said with a snort. "And then tell me
_what were you thinking!_"

Reven, who had just finished his visit with Corofel, came in on the
tail end of his wife's scolding remark. He glanced at Faldrimme, who
was now sinking into the chair to read the latest piece from Master
Unknown, before walking over to the baby. "I'll take him," he assured
Arippa.

"Thank you," she said with a tight smile and gently placed him in his
fathers arms. "So," she asked, turning to her twin.

"I'm sorry," Faldrimme said softly.

"What am I supposed to do now? You've ruined _my_ reputation."

Reven's eyes flicked between Arippa and Faldrimme. In many ways it was
like a mirror and its reflection. He could easily see how people who
had seen Corofel and Faldrimme had assumed incorrectly. Still, it
didn't make unsticking the situation any easier. He stroked his
fingers over his son's downy head while he watched the sisters.

"I'm _very_ sorry," Faldrimme said with a lost look at her sister. "I
didn't see anyone around us. I thought we were alone."

"Lady Felyna taught us better than that Dreamy," She shook her head.
"You know someone is always watching. Especially the Lord of the
Hold." She fell into the chair beside her sister. "How do you feel
about Corofel?"

Reven took this moment to jump in.

"If I might interrupt, ladies. I just came from talking...
_yelling_... at Corofel. He says... He says he loves you, Faldrimme. I
told him I thought it was a bit quick for all of that and if he'd
really loved you he wouldn't have risked your reputation in such a
way." Reven absently swayed back and forth while keeping Ripven tucked
into his arm. "What do you say?"

Arippa's head whipped around to her husband. Of course he'd already
gone to confront Corofel. It wasn't that long ago that he was just a
teenage protege of Lord Zathris. She turned back to her sister with a
half smile to wait for her answer.

Faldrimme took a deep breath and let it out slowly. If anyone other
than Reven and Arippa had asked she probably would have just walked
away. Instead she looked Arippa in the eyes. "I love him," she said
honestly. "Pappa told me not to look so high, but I am the
granddaughter of Lord Benaroy and niece to Lord Zathris. Why should I
not look so high?"

Reven sighed inwardly. **Young, reckless love.**

"Then we need to be having a conversation with Lord Corofel and your
father together. I doubt Royan's going to be extremely thrilled that
your name will be drug through the mud leading up to a quick betrothal
or marriage." His father-in-law was a man that could be intimidating.

Arippa nodded and Faldrimme sighed and sagged in her chair.

"We'll see if you and Reven can go tomorrow." She looked at her
husband apologetically. "I shouldn't take Ripven /between/ this soon."
The corner of her mouth lifted and her eyes twinkled. "Do you think
you should take Corofel too?"

"If he was man enough to risk Faldrimme's reputation, he'd better be
man enough to face Royan." Reven re-swaddled Ripven into a nice, snug
cocoon and handed him back to his mother. "I'll go work on securing
transportation."

"Thank you," she called after his retreating back. Then she turned to
look at her sister. "Did you sleep with him," she asked.

Faldrimme's eyes popped open wide in shock. "_No_," she practically shouted.

"So, there is no possibility you may be pregnant?" Arippa lifted an eyebrow.

"No," Faldrimme responded firmly.

Arippa, shook her head. "Well, You better hope you get to father
before the scandal sheet does." She practically chuckled, "You are in
so much trouble."
