Characters: Kapera, R'nar
Description: R'nar goes to see if Kapera can help him with his "A'vel problem"
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Date: month 1, day 19 of Turn 11
R’nar had no guarantee that Kapera would be in the Dining Cavern but luck was on his side because he spotted her as soon as he walked in. She sat alone, which wasn’t entirely unusual. He’d noticed growing up with Weyrleader parents that not many people wanted to eat lunch with the boss.
Grabbing a cup of klah and a pastry, so he didn’t look quite _so_ obvious, R’nar approached the goldrider.
“Mind some company, Weyrwoman?” he asked.
"Not at all," Kapera said, smiling at the younger bronzerider. "How are you and Iorath today?"
"Doing well," he said, which wasn't totally true but an acceptable response. "Our duty to Riyanth. Iorath waxes poetic about her beauty, as always."
"She's soaking it up, I'm sure," Kapera said with a fondness in her tone. "Have you been settling in well here? Sometimes I feel like I'm still not used to it and keep looking for something laid out like it was at Dolphin Cove."
"I think I am, at least, as far as the location goes. It's a bit quieter here without the beach, which I really enjoy." R'nar liked the slower-pace of life at Barrier Lake as well, rather than the hustle and bustle of Dolphin Cove.
"Fewer reasons for people to drop into the area," she agreed. "At least it's quieter now than it was in the height of the construction."
R'nar agreed with the Weyrwoman, but he was a little surprised that she seemed relieved by the quieter nature of the Weyr. He'd have thought she liked the more lively atmosphere, at least, that had been the reputation rumors about her when he'd been at Dolphin Cove.
**Well, it's now or never R'nar. Go on. Get it over with,** he pep-talked himself.
"So, Weyrwoman," the corner of his mouth tipped into a grin, "I was wondering if I could interest you in a pre-Fall massage to prepare for tomorrow?"
She appreciated what he was offering, and her lips quirked at the idea. "A massage, hmm? I like the sound of that."
"Yeah, I _firmly_ believe the Weyrwoman should go into Threadfall feeling her best." Well, she hadn't shot him down yet so that was promising.
"Well, I certainly appreciate your dedication to the Weyr's morale and my health." Her smile became bigger. "Let's catch up and finish our meals so we're ready, hmm? What gossip is a nice man like you hearing?"
R'nar, more relaxed now, returned Kapera's smile as he launched into the latest bit of juicy gossip.
--
**Oh, good feelings. All the good feelings.** R'nar thought as he struggled to catch his breath, his body still nestled beside of Kapera's. There had been a bit of him that worried. _Worried_ that he would not be able to... well... _perform_ with a woman after all of those dreams he'd been having about A'vel. But, well, not to brag, but he had _performed_ with no issue. It hadn't even taken the removal of clothing before his body was brimming with desire for Kapera.
The realization was... well, a relief. And maybe now that he'd had sex with Kapera, maybe those dreams about A'vel would stop and A'vel could go back to being his best friend again.
The sex had been very good. R'nar certainly had stamina. She liked that. She lounged, satiated, for a few minutes, then rolled to her side and looked at the bronzerider, who looked so far away he might be on one of the moons.
"Quartermark for your thoughts?"
For a split second, R’nar debated on whether or not to tell Kapera what was really on his mind,l.
“Well…,” he looked up at the ceiling, searching for words. “I have this friend, best friend really, a greenrider from Dolphin Cove. A’vel?” He wasn’t sure if Kapera would remember him or not. “Iorath has caught his Tsogath several times and after this last time, I’ve been having… Dreams about A’vel. Like, really intense dreams.”
He turned his head to look at her. “I was worried about what they meant about me, and this,” he gestured between them, “was reassuring.”
"I know A'vel. Riyanth and I supervised him through his first flight, so he wouldn't panic," she said. "So you've been thinking about him in a sexual way even without Iorath involved?"
“Only in dreams,” he emphasized, “but yes.
"So you've tested if things work with me." She hummed as she thought about it. "Tried with other male greenriders?"
“No…” he studied her face. “Do you think I should?” He would never have imagined having this conversation with Kapera, yet… it felt pretty natural.
"It would tell you if it was just A'vel or not." A sudden thought gripped her and she grinned. "We could have a threesome with a young male green- or bluerider. You could try things with him while doing things with me."
R’nar emitted a nervous laugh. “That seems like a lot of pressure. If I can’t perform with another guy _and_ you’re there then there’s someone witnessing my failure. And… you’re not someone I want to see me fail.”
"It is pressure, but if it doesn't work out, you've learned something about yourself. Surely there's some young weyrbred guys who would be happy to let an attractive man like you try them out and be flattered."
"I'll think about it," R'nar promised, but he hoped that today had already solved his 'problem'.
