Zehva carried the broken pieces of her stethoscope in her hands. It was one that she'd been using for the last decade and parting with it wasn't an option that she wanted to consider.

Stepping into the smithcrafters' workroom, she approached the first crafter that she saw.

"Excuse me?" she approached Inyara.

Inyara turned toward Zehva with a polite smile. "Yes?" At that point, it may have been polite to wait for a response. However, she could clearly see the problem at hand, and who ever got anywhere by wasting time? "I assume you need someone to fix your implement?" she asked.

"Exactly. I apologize if I am interrupting." Zehva knew how annoying it could be when people randomly showed up to the infirmary without an appointment when it wasn't an emergency but... Her stethoscope _was_ an emergency for her.

"Not at all. This is nothing compared to the smithhall." Frankly, her workload would probably continue to be nothing until she was more established and the people of Barrier Lake had learned to trust her and her work. Leading Zehva over to her station, she asked, "How did you break it?"

"I let one of the pediatric patients hold onto it, they were pretty afraid and thought it was really neat. Then I forgot that I had given it to them and went on about my day. When I came back to get my stethoscope it was in _this condition_." She supposed it was worth it as it had helped the little boy get through having his broken leg reset. She'd learned a lesson though - bring toys to a pediatric appointment and never give your stethoscope to a patient.

"I see," Inyara murmured. She gave the stethoscope one more brief lookover before getting her tools out. "It shouldn't take me long to fix." But most people didn't like standing around in dead silence, so... "Tell me a little about yourself. Do you like kids?"

Zehva lifted her shoulders. "They're alright, I guess. I'm spending several rotations in each specialty to see if I want to specialize as a Master." **_When_ I become a master,** she thought to herself. It would happen someday, she had no doubt. So far she had enjoyed midwifery and pediatrics about the same, while she had _hated_ urology. It was definitely not for her. She was still planning a surgery rotation and then a general one as well.

"Good," Inyara said, nodding in quiet approval. "The south needs more female masters."

"I've been fortunate to do my training at the Weyr without restriction. I was born at Dragonsfall, so I was able to apprentice there without issue, and then when Barrier Lake opened, I was accepted here near the beginning. There were several construction-related injuries during the building phase."

Inayara nodded. "I'm from the northern continent. The south has been... Interesting." To put it nicely.

That made Zehva chuckle. "Yeah, I could see how coming from the freedoms of the North could make the Southern Continent seem a little... backward. We're not all insane though, at least, I try to err on the side of sanity."

Inyara's polite smile morphed into something genuine. "I'm glad to have an ally in the fight." Then, with one last twist of her instrument, she handed Zehva's stethoscope back to her. "Should be good as new! Give it a try?"

Zehva popped the ends of the stethoscope into her ear and then gestured toward Inyara, asking for permission, before placing the other end of the instrument over Inyara's heart. The journeywoman smiled after a moment. "Sounds great. I mean, the stethoscope... and your heart."

Inyara obliged, then chuckled softly when her heart was given the seal of approval. "Good to know. Feel free to come back if you need anything else, you were good to talk to."

Faranth knew that Inyara didn't do friends, but... Maybe.

"Likewise," Zehva agreed. "If you're ever in need of a healer's service, come by the infirmary and I'll return the favor." Hanging the stethoscope around her neck, the healer winked at Inyara and wove her way back out of the smithcrafter workroom.
