Modern Problems Require Modern Solutions

Writers: Heather
Date Posted: 6th June 2024

Characters: R'nar
Description: R'nar thinks he's solved his "A'vel" problem but... he's in for a rude awakening.
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Date: month 1, day 19 of Turn 11
Notes: Mentioned: A'vel/Tsogath, Kapera

Well, he'd slept with Kapera. Surely now all of those _dreams_ would be out of his system. He was sexually sated and he was _pleased_ to admit to himself that he had enjoyed his time with the lovely Weyrwoman _very_ much. There had been no difficulties.

The relief of it all put him in a rather good mood as he passed through the Dining Cavern and packed a small to-go basket.

}:You know it's normal to eat with _other_ people, right?:{ Iorath butted in.

**Do you eat with other dragons?** R'nar asked as he put a baked tuber into his basket.

}:All the time. I chatted with Uuketh earlier today at the feeding pens. His rider is _going through something_, did you know?:{

**"Going through something"?**

Iorath's mental voice was tinted with a bit of dragonic confusion. }:Something to do with a redhead who does laundry? Uuketh doesn't understand why everything is so complicated. If you want to fly a green just join the flight, right?:{

R'nar laughed to himself. He was aware that he probably looked ridiculous at the food table, gathering food to take to his weyr to eat alone, and laughing with his dragon while doing so.

**Sometimes it's not as simple as joining the flight.**

}:It _is_ that simple. You all just muck it up with your _thoughts_.:{

Leaving the Dining Cavern, R'nar considered Iorath's point of view. Desires were desires, feelings were feelings, and why overthink it? **Well, dragons can do no wrong. They can fly or catch whenever and whomever and no one bats an eye. It's always 'the dragon chooses,' but when _people_ do that there are consequences.** He kept these thoughts to himself because his bronze always had a way of poking holes in his personal philosophies.

--

Supple skin. Hard flat muscles. Flat muscles? Yes, a firm chest leading down to a wedge-shaped waist where he could take hold of a firm -

"Feck!" R'nar bolted upright in bed so fast he nearly gave himself whiplash. The feelings of desire created by the dream still reverberated through his body, causing his nerve endings to pulse in time to his rapid heartbeat.

"No, no, no," he groaned in frustration before grabbing his pillow and chucking it across the weyr. Sleeping with Kapera was supposed to _prove_ something. It was supposed to prove that he was only attracted to women; that there was no possible way he could be attracted to A'vel.

He thought back to what Kapera had suggested, that he try out a sexual experience with another man, but just the thought of it made him shudder.

}:I can _feel_ you actively blocking your thoughts and feelings, you know,:{ Iorath said, his voice sounding sleepy, as if R'nar had woken him up as well.

**If I asked you to try to catch a green that has a male rider, would you?**

Iorath considered the request. }:I _like_ catching greens. You usually do not prefer to win a male greenrider's flight so I don't chase them as often.:{ It had never _stopped_ Iorath, necessarily, he just felt more motivated to win when R'nar was also motivated. Or if it was Tsogath. Tsgoath was special. He would always try to win her flights no matter what.

**Well, I need to figure some things out. As of tomorrow, consider _all_ greens fair game.**

}:You don't have to ask me twice,:{ Iorath replied, feeling pleased as he draped the tip of his tail over his muzzle and drifted back to sleep.

It was much harder for R'nar to fall back asleep. He was less enthusiastic about the idea of green flights than Iorath, but he was determined to get this 'problem' figured out.
