Description: Aydhan has to set some boundaries with Tymborikath's suitors
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Date: month 11, day 10 of Turn 11
Notes: Mentioned: N'kevyn and Avicath
Aydhan waited until the latest bronze had departed from the ledge before going out there. She was not one to cramp her dragon's style, especially now that there was an entire Weyr of new blood falling over themselves trying to impress her, and she could appreciate the need for attention. She wasn't even close to rising yet, and Aydhan was both excited and dreading the inconvenience of a Tymborikath getting ready to rise. She wasn't a bad queen, all things considered, but she wasn't sure she could handle the bronze attention once Tym was actually getting ready to go up.
As it was, Tymborikath primly sat on her couch, grooming the blood off her muzzle and one, tiny bite (for a gold) taken out of the herdbeast that had been dragged in just enough to no longer be out in direct sunlight. Blood smeared along the path. Aydhan wrinkled her nose. "We need to talk about these bronzes."
}: That one was from a _brown_. :{ Tymborikath corrected. }: I couldn't say no. He was so small and petite. He certainly had to try hard to catch that beast for me.:{
"Yes, I'm sure you act entirely out of politeness." Aydhan said. "I know you love the attention, but they can't keep bringing herdbeasts here. You aren't eating them. You _like_ hunting."
}: They don't know that. Avicath eats them. :{
"I know that. Kev is having to let out Avicath's straps. That bronze will practically be a sphere before you rise, and then he won't be able to chase either." She felt Tymborikath's nonchalance and rolled her eyes. She knew that was a weak argument- Avicath has only caught Tymborikath a handful of times in the last twenty turns- but it was worth a shot. "This is a waste of meat." She tried again, firmer this time. "A herdbeast every day is going to diminish the herds, and then you won't have any meat to eat. You can tell them no. They'll still fawn all over you without having to hunt."
She retreated back into the weyr and returned with a washbasin and a rag. Tymborikath held her nose out for Aydhan to wipe away the rest of the badly-cleaned blood. She considered her options, slowly, like a child who hoped to find a loophole. }: I suppose I could ask for smaller things.:{ She said. }: Like a wherry, or porcine. Or a camelid. :{
"Or you could say no." Aydhan added. "Give me your foot. You clearly don't need treatsies for feetsies."
}: Rude. :{ The gold considered pulling all four feet under her like a turtle in protest, but grudgingly gave her a foot to clean with a huff. }: They need a task to prove themselves. Smaller animals are harder to catch.:{
"No more meat unless you're actually hungry." Aydhan said again. "And you'll tell Avicath that this animal needs to be eaten as soon as he gets home. We aren't letting food go bad here."
}: That's no fun. :{ Tymborikath said. She would have pouted if she could.
"Have you considered, in your great benevolence, that you could redirect some of the hunting instinct to the greens? I'm sure those girls would love a bronze attention. Or a small brown, if there's a teeny one shooting his shot. You could be impressed by their hunting skills _and_ their generosity."
}: I'll think about it. :{ Tymborikath said reluctantly.
"That's all I ask, my love." Aydhan said. She patted the now-clean foot. "Other foot, please."
Tymborikath huffed.
