Alina

Alina

It happened _again_.

Alina scowled at the pile of neatly washed and folded laundry left on her and J'ackt's bed. Another tunic was missing. _And_ a pair of her underwear, a soft pink pair that she'd added a bit of embroidery to since J'ackt liked that sort of thing... and honestly, so did she.

But last sevenday it was a missing undershirt, and two sevendays before that it was the first missing tunic. This was utterly unacceptable. Someone was stealing her clothes.

She put the cleaned clothes away in a huff and wished J'ackt was in their weyr instead of the practice yard with his sword, but she couldn't be bothered to go down there and interrupt his practice, or teaching lessons, or maybe just lifting stupid heavy things. He'd probably just ask her why it was a big deal when she could get new ones easy enough.

Which wasn't the point.

It _was_ a big deal. Someone had _stolen_ her clothes! What if they were wearing them right now?! The greenrider shuddered. Not only that, but the latest tunic that had gone missing was one that she regularly wore, a pretty light blue thing she'd tailored and embroidered with constellations that she'd actually mapped out so that they were in the correct places.

**I wish you would bite people,** she told Imarith.

}:I will not bite people simply because you are angry at them., no matter how many times you ask me to:{ Imarith's mindvoice was amused. }:Ooo look, I think Pethanith might rise soon!:{

**I bet Zith would bite someone for me,** Alina sent back resentfully. Useless dragon. But Imarith was already ignoring her.

The greenrider sighed, then headed down the millions of steps to the laundry. Steam hit her face as she entered, and the chatter of the drudges wrapped itself around her like a hug. She hadn't been down here much at all since she'd Impressed-- one of the benefits of being a dragonrider was escaping dull chores like this one, but she missed the gossip and snooping through everyone's underthings. It also reminded her of when she and her weyrmate were Candidates, and J'ackt had dumped a basket of laundry over her head...

...she hid a smile and headed over to the little room where the misplaced laundry was put. With so many bedsheets, clothes and towels coming through these cavern walls it was inevitable that sometimes items got lost. Maybe this time she'd find her tunics. And underwear.

But no luck. Alina emerged a half candlemark later empty handed and full of frustration. Perhaps taking this up directly with the Headwoman would resolve matters.

It was either that or going through the entire Weyr's closets... which she'd do. Whoever had stolen her things had messed with the wrong greenrider.
