Panitath burst out of /between/ over Barrier Lake and sailed toward
the Weyr at the opposite end from Garnet Valley Hold. The lake was
far busier than she'd ever seen it in the past but that was to be
expected with the amount of population the new Weyr had brought to the
area.

She saluted the watchrider whose dragon warbled a greeting to Panitath.

}:Riyanth, mine would like to visit yours if she is willing.:{

Riyanth lifted her head to eye Panitath. She recalled deferring to the
other gold at Dolphin Cove, when she was the second in her territory.
Now Riyanth was a Senior in her own territory, and when other queens
visited they were coming to see her Weyr and how it spread.

}:Panitath, my rider is willing and will be free. There is good sun
here by the lake to enjoy,:{ she added.

Panitath spiraled in closer to drop her rider in the Weyrbowl and then
glided to join Riyanth. }:Greetings,:{ she said as to an equal as she
settled nearby. }:Your Weyr is beautiful, and Yumath is a good mate.:{

Cyradis was on her way to find Kapera with a sheaf of hides in her
hands. "Hi," she smiled as she came into the room. "I'm so proud for
you Kapera."

"Thank you so much, and welcome," Kapera said. "I'm sure it looks
different yet again from the last time you saw it."

"Much more complete. The new hospital is really coming along." She
took a seat across from Kapera, "It's not a cold out there as
Dragonsfall but it's still golder than Dolphin Cove. Do you have any
Klah?"

"It is really bustling here, it feels like we've added another
building every few days!" Kapera said with a nod. "Klah, hmm...
There's a pitcher over here..." Kapera went to it to pour a second
cup, then frowned. "Cold. Shards, I don't know when that happened. Let
me summon another one."

She stuck her head out the office, made a quick chat with a drudge,
and then when she came back in, said, "That's on its way. How are
things back at Dolphin Cove?"

"Thanks," she smiled. "Dolphin Cove's pretty normal.... well except
for J'ackt." She shook her head. "The sharding fool wants an
operation."

Kapera remembered J'ackt, and not positively. She hadn't interacted
with him beyond the bare minimum when he was in the Queen's wing,
before he went to the Weyrleader's. Why N'vanik and Cyradis were so
invested in his success, she just didn't know.

"An operation?" she asked.

Cyradis shook her head. "The hard headed wherry has taken it into his
head that he wants never to be a father. But he's a bronzerider and I
need to capture his bloodline for the Weyr. We had quite the set to on
the subject."

"You fought with him about siring children? What happened?"

"About what you'd expect. We negotiated a settlement. Here's a copy
for you." Cyradis smiled. "I hope you don't mind that I told him I'd
talk to you about his visiting his aunt."

Kapera took the copy from Cyradis. "I don't mind a reason to see you,
of course. What's going on with him visiting his aunt?"

Cyradis smiled at Kapera, "Thanks," she said. "She's the only actual
relative he has any relationship with. She's transferred here and he
wants to come here to see her. But then you know that part. Maybe you
don't know about the big fight he had with Saidrene. Both of them said
bad things and neither wants to have anything to do with the other.
Under those circumstances I had Panitath keep him away from Barrier
Lake to let K'ran and Saidriene have their baby in peace. So, the
only way I'll let him come is if you'll be so kind as to make sure
they don't come in contact while he's here. Do you think that's fair?"

"Why can't she just go to -" Kapera paused, remembering who the aunt
was and that Timassa's pregnancy was why she couldn't travel. "Right,
forgot," she said, shaking her head.

"Riyanth can keep Ashareth and Rogueth in line and enforcing
no-contact, and if anything happens, she'll sent J'ackt out the Weyr
and enforce punishment on either of them who caused the trouble.
Though K'ran is hopefully too steady for it."

"I have to admit, that was what I was hoping for." Cyradis nodded her
thanks. "I appreciate it and I completely agree with you about K'ran.
He has a very level head on his shoulders and I hold him in high
regard." Her smile softened and she looked at her former 'second.
"Enough about J'ackt and his follies. How are you an J'nus?"

Kapera blushed, just a little. "You know, I think we're finally
figuring out the balance of how things are working, between how we are
with each other, and how our professional roles and relationships
affect that. After all, I want to keep on good terms with D'hol and he
knows that. Actually, I've been inspired by how you handled things
with N'vanik, while being weyrmated to K'deren.." she began.
