C'rin

C'rin

T'kala showed up at Riveenata's weyr with a bottle of liquor in one
hand and a flower in the other. "Riveenata, are you ready?" he asked
as he entered. Twilight was already falling over Dolphin Cove and he
had seen the beginnings of the bonfire as he rode Dagreth to Savith's
ledge.

"Yes, I am," she said, coming out of her weyr. She was wearing a
pretty brown dress with a deep neckline and a hem that swirled around
her knees, hoping that wearing something fun and flirty would improve
her mood and make the night go well.

The bluerider let out a low whistle. "You're going to be breaking
hearts tonight."

She grinned at him. "You think so? That's the best way to get over a
man, right?"

"Or under a new one." T'kala waggled his eyebrows suggestively. "At
least, that's always been my motto."

Riveenata burst out in laughter, at that. "Get under a man to get over
another, huh? Nice."

T'kala flashed her a grin. "Shall we?"

She reached out and squeezed his hand. "Yeah, I am. Do we know who
else is coming? And is there something _I_ should be bringing?"

"All of the usual suspects should be there. C'rin and the others,"
T'kala said as he led her out to Dagreth. Once they were both on the
blue's neckridge, he secured them into the straps for the quick trip
down to the beach. "And the only thing you need to bring is yourself,
and that smile." He told her just before Dagreth dropped from his
weyrledge and unfurled his wings, gliding smoothly the entire distance
from his ledge to where the bonfire was already blazing.

She clung to his waist and laughed at the ride. "Dagreth, that was
very, very smooth," she complimented the blue when they landed.

Dagreth gave her a pleased grunt before moving off to join a green in the sand.

"There you two are," C'rin showed up with a smile on his face, looping
an arm around T'kala's shoulders and Riveenata's neck. "As you can
see, the music and drinks have already started."

"We're _Fashionably_ late," the greenrider said, grinning at him.

C'rin gave her a once over, whistling low at the sight of her in the
dress. "I'll say."

T'kala grinned at the brownrider before his eyes caught sight of A'vel
over the bonfire. "I'll catch up with you two later."

Riveenata tilted her head at him in a nod. "Thansk for the ride," she
said before he disappeared.

She beamed at C'rin. "Thanks for the compliment."

"Thirsty?" C'rin asked, as they passed by the fire and neared the
refreshment table.

She nodded. "I'll take whatever you're going to have, ale or wine."

"Ale it is," he said, hooking the handles of two mugs through the
fingers of one hand. "How've you been holding up?" C'rin asked as he
led them a little ways out of the bonfire light where they could sit
and see the reflection of the moons on the rippling ocean water.

"I miss River Bluff," she said with a sigh. "I felt like I really knew
what everything was like, there, you know? Who I was, how I related to
people. Things since we came here have just been confusing."

C'rin grinned a little. "I meant, how are you doing with the K'lvin
thing? T'kala told me."

"That's part of the confusing I'm complaining about. It was easier
when he was a Wingleader and I didn't know him at all. And then we
became friends, and then I thought maybe more, and..." She shrugged.
"I genuinely thought he liked me."

"I'm sorry, Riv," C'rin put his arm around her shoulders again and
hugged her into his side.

She turned her face into his shoulder. "I guess it was a silly thought
to look at an older man like that anyway. He must want someone more
mature and refined. And I suppose I should be looking at someone my
own age."

C'rin pressed a kiss into her hair. "It's not a silly thought, and if
K'lvin is foolish enough to let you slip through his fingers, then the
problem lies with him, not you."

"It's nice to hear that," she admitted. "How are you doing? Anyone
winning or losing your heart?"

"My heart was lost a long time ago, Riv," the brownrider said, tone
more serious than usual as he reached up and tucked a strand of her
hair behind her ear.

His tone was serious, and she tilted her head to regard him. "To
Dasveth, no room in your heart for a woman?" she asked.

His lips tilted a bit. "Not Dasveth, silly. You."

Her eyes widened, surprised. She reached up to touch her hair, and her
fingers brushed against his, the contact that would normally have been
innocent suddenly charged. "I didn't know."

C'rin shrugged a little. "I guess I've never wanted you to feel pressured by knowing."

"It wouldn't be pressure. It's nice," she said, and stepped towards him, into the range of his personal space, very deliberately.

The brownrider's fingers curled over the back of her neck and up into her hair as he drew her in for a kiss.

She tilted her head back, surrendering to the way his hands were gently guiding her, and let their lips press together. Softly, at first, and then a little more aggressive. She nipped gently at his lower lip, pushed against it with her tongue. And her hands reached out, one reaching to press against his shoulderblade, another to cup his cheek.

C'rin deepened the kiss, his free hand sliding down the curve of her hip to draw their bodies closer together. "Let's get out of here," he suggested when their lips parted.

"We just got here, and already you're spiriting me away from here?" She gave him fake little pout, before stroking her fingers down his back.

The brownrider made a show of tapping his chin, as if he were considering her question, before looking back at her with a hungry grin. "Yes, that's exactly what I'm doing."

"Your weyr, mine, or sneak into a flight cot?" she asked. Or maybe he'd suggest something else. There were many places one could go in the area to be a little more private...
