D'hol

D'hol
Timassa

Timassa

He was alone when the worst of the pain struck; the agony gripped his
belly as he walked from his bathing chamber, feeling like a burning
brand had been shoved directly into his middle. As his knees buckled,
D'hol tried to catch his fall with the table, but missed, crashing to
the floor with a grunt. His body curved instinctively in a fetal
position, but the pain didn't ease; it took everything he had not to
bellow in pain, biting his inner cheek until a thick coppery taste
filled his mouth.

If he could just reach the vial on the table...he groped, trying to
slide towards it, but movement made it worse.

}: Mine! :{ Yumath's alarm roiled in his head. }: I will summon..:{

**No.** D'hol cut him off. **No one, Yumath.** His breath came in
short pants as he bit back a groan and struggled to get to his knees.
The fellis was on the table, all he needed was a single drop in a cup
of water and it would stop.

}: You hurt worse now. It's bad.:{ Yumath shifted with worry on his
pledge, thrusting his head through the partition.

**I know.** D'hol's eyes clenched shut as he tried to master the pain,
push it back. It just wasn't working this time. **I think it's close
to time, old man.** Yumath didn't reply at first, but his eyes whirled
with hints of yellow.

}: Panitath's or Quinneth's could help you. perhaps Saryolth's or Riyanth's? :{

**Shaffit, Yumath, no!** The pain gripped him again and he fell back
to the floor, clutching at his belly with a groan.

Distraught from the pain, Yumath knew that his didn't want Quinneth's
or Panitath's at all, but the pain...Disobeying his rider for the
first time in turns, he cast a request to the little green.

Timassa had been in the middle of a conversation with a very tall
brownrider and making some good headway toward a night of fun when the
call came.

}:Yumath's needs you now:{

**What does he want,** she shot back

}:I do not know. He has pain and will not accept help from Panitaths'
or Qunneth's:{

That stopped her dead in her mental tirade. **Panitath's or
Quinneth's?** that made her blink. She knew of course, that he was not
a sharing kind of individual but...

}:Yumath's has flown them and has eggs.:{

**News to me,** she shook her head at the brownrider. "Sorry I have to
go," she smiled ruefully. "Maybe later?" She got up and strode out the
door toward the bronzerider's weyr.

"D'hol?" She walked into his weyr without knocking. "Saryolth told me
you needed me?"

"Shaffit, Yumath..." D'hol laid on the floor but had managed to move
closer to the table with the vial. He panted, sweat breaking out
across his brow and streaming down his cheeks from the effort. He bit
back a groan and finally laid back, the pain in his gut forcing him to
lay still. He breathed through his clenched teeth, hands fisted tightly at
his middle. He hadn't want anyone to see him like this, vulnerable and
sick.

}: I could not watch and do nothing. :{ Yumath stared with relief at
Timassa through the partition.

"D'hol?" She looked for him and when she finally saw him laying on the
floor she ran to him "What's wrong," she asked. "How can I help.
Yumath said there was pain?"

He had to speak through gritted teeth. "Fellis in vial on the table."
He tried to move but grimaced and held still when then motion made the
agony worse. "Need a drop in water. Please." Now that she was there,
he was relieved at her presence. He wouldn't have been able to reach
it on his own, not like this.

She didn't say anything but scrambled to the table, grabbed the vial
and put a drop into a cup of water she found on the sideboard. "Here,"
she said bringing it back to him. "Let me help you sit."

He tried, Faranth help he tried to sit up on his own, but he couldn't;
he had to accept her help. Sweating, he grasped at the cup she handed
him, his hands shaking as he managed to drink it without spilling more
than a few droplets on his tunic and chin. He felt like a trembling
old man and it galled him that he had come to this, but he swallowed
everything he could as he leaned against her support, with a murmur of
thanks. The cup fell from his hands after he finished and he closed
his eyes, trying to catch his breath and praying that the fellis would
take effect soon.

She reached over and picked up the cup and set it back on the table
with the vial. "Can we try and get you up onto the couch or the bed? I
don't think you want to fall asleep on the floor."

Gradually, the fellis eased the pain and he was slowly able to
unclench his fists and body. He exhaled slowly, relief clear in his
face. "Give me a moment." Pale, but steadying, there was still a muted
ache within him, but nothing compared to what he had just experienced.
"The fellis was diluted just enough for it to work." He caught his
breath and slowly pulled himself up by grasping at the table. His legs
shook and he cursed softly at his own weakness. He stared down at the
table. "I'm sorry, Timassa. You shouldnt have had to do this. "
D'hol's jaw tensed as he slowly straightened to stand, then gripping
her shoulder for the needed support, walked slowly to the nearby bed.

He had fellis so he was seeing healers for whatever this was. And, she
wasn't his weyrmate to chivvy him into doing something he didn't want
to do. But she could help if he needed it. "Can I go bring you some
dinner? Are you up to eating?"

He shook his head, weary. "No. Don't have much of an appetite. " He
swallowed and laid back, then looked at her. " Thank you."
Embarrassment about the entire situation surged deep within him, but
there was urgency when he next spoke. "Don't say anything about this
to anyone, Timassa. It's being taken care of and the people who need
to know already do."

She didn't believe him for one moment. But that was between him and
his other women. "No need to worry about me," she half smiled. "Want
company for a while to make sure you have what you need?"

He looked at her, wondering if perhaps there was any resentment from
his use of her the sevenday before. He wasn't proud of it, but having
come to know her a bit better, figured that if there was, she
wouldn't have helped him just now. The fellis' effect increased and he
felt heavier, but all the pain was gone. His eyes began to glaze just
a little. "Yes, I'd like company. Just for a while. "

"Sure," she said. "I'll be right here," she slid onto the bed next to him.
