Description: After the gold flight J'ackt runs into his Auntie.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 20 of Turn 9
J'ackt tucked his shirt in as he closed the flight room door behind
him. The girl sleeping in the room behind him was not someone he knew,
and she wouldn't have been his first choice had flight lust not been
driving him. He shrugged to himself, looked up, and then completely
regretted it. He covered his eyes and whirled around. "Faranth feck it
all!"
Timassa closed her tunic and began buttoning it up all the while
shaking her head and rolling her eyes. "What do you expect J'ackt? It
was a gold flight."
He kept his back firmly to her and his hand remained over his eyes as
if doing so would erase what he had seen. "I wasn't expecting you
half naked!"
"Oh please," she snorted. "This is Dolphin Cove, half the people walk
around here practically naked. Besides, K'deren didn't seem to mind at
all," she smiled at the door behind her. "Not at all!"
J'ackt groaned but resisted the urge to cover his ears. "You look
like my Mam. I don't want to picture _her_ naked or...or...sharing a
flight room. That's just...no. " He shuddered at the thought.
"I am _not_ your mam," she said seriously. "I don't intend to try to
be your mam. I am your auntie nothing more." She sighed, "I'm dressed
you can turn around now."
"I know that and you can't be, but you still _look_ alike." He slowly
turned around, glancing at her over his shoulder just to make certain
she was dressed. He exhaled slowly.
"I know J'ackt," she said with concern in her eyes. "We always did,
and we confused a lot of people on purpose. I miss her almost as much
as you do." She took a deep breath "But I have my own life to live
here and I'm not going to dodge you except in the flightroom. So, get
used to it."
"Well, _auntie_" It was the first time he had _ever_ used that word
and it felt odd, "I still don't want to see you naked." Not that she
didn't have nice...No, no...that was a very wrong thought and he would
never, _ever_ think it again. "And what do you mean dodging me..." His
voice trailed off as a memory of the flight flashed. "Oh, Faranth..."
He groaned and closed his eyes.
"And the glow turns," she smirked as his color rose up past his ears.
"And then I got caught by K'deren instead. Not exactly who I had in
mind but I can say the Weyrwoman has good taste and I don't regret it
the least little bit " Again with the smirk.
He pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head, completely
dumbstruck as to what to say to answer that. He started to say
something, stopped and then shook his head again. "Faranth..."
"Look," she said more normally. "I'm your family here. I won't allow
you to ignore me. We can have a normal aunt and nephew relationship or
we can have this." She pointed to her breasts and his eyes and the two
flight rooms.
Pulling his hand from his face, he grew suddenly frustrated. "Don't
you get it? I don't know what that is. I don't know what it's like. I
have absolutely no idea what it even is supposed to be like. Until
L'pin searched you out, I didn't even know I _had_ family."
"Don't you get it?" She said in exactly the same tone. "Until L'pin
searched me out I didn't know about you either. But I'm the auntie,
and it's my job to teach you what family is and who your mum really
was. Not the beaten down version you knew as a child."
He scowled at her, pure stubbornness now driving him. "What if I don't
want to learn?" Faranth, what if he couldn't learn?
A smile tilted her lips as she called his bluff. "If I believed that,
I wouldn't be here. Besides, I'm more stubborn than you are. I've had
more practice." With that, she turned on her heel and walked away from
him swinging her hips in those oh so tight leather leggings.
He didn't trust her, not completely, and there was a little niggle of
fear in the pit of his stomach that he couldn't explain and didn't
want to explore. He snorted and turned to stalk away in the opposite
direction.
