Description: The couple talk about their future.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 2, day 3 of Turn 9
Notes: Mentioned: J'ackt, N'vanik, Onnyth, K'yne, Saidrene
K'yne was still sleeping the next morning as Saibra moved about her
weyr, changing into her clothes for the day and gathering the things
she would need to do some flying with R'enh. The two of them were
going to fly and do some sight seeing around the Dragonsfall
territory, nothing too far or too long since Saibra couldn't /between/
so early yet in her pregnancy.
When the bronzerider arrived in her weyr, Saibra held a finger to her
lips and motioned with her head toward the sleeping brownrider in her
bed. Even though it was supposed to be sixty-seven, a relatively warm
temperature for Dragonsfall, Saibra knew the wind would be chilly
still so she grabbed her long riding jacket that covered the tops of
her legs and a scarf.
"Sorry about that," she murmured as she led R'enh into Chioneth's
weyrcouch where she tossed the scarf around her neck and shrugged into
her jacket.
R'enh's neck twisted as he tried to see who it was but his eyes hadn't
adjusted yet to the dim light. "Who's that," he asked as he followed
her back out.
"K'yne," she answered, stuffing her hands into her causal pair of
flight gloves. "He crashed here last night. I've never seen him in
such bad shape, not since K'fel...."
"Hey," he said and reached out to squeeze her shoulders. "It's alright."
The corner of Saibra's mouth lifted, "Thanks. Anyway, he just needed
to be somewhere familiar. He has a lot going on with J'ackt."
"Ah," he nodded. "Has he met him yet?"
"Yes, they met here the other day. It didn't go well, as you can
imagine with J'ackt, most things aren't easy." Saibra lifted her
shoulders. "What's made it worse is for J'ackt and Saidrene to find
out that they're cousins."
"Understatement," R'enh smiled. He knew of course that N'vanik seemed
to deal best with the young bronzerider because of their similar
background. He had nothing but admiration for his friend and that made
this decision to move harder than it would have been otherwise. "He
can be like needlethorn but he'll come around in the end." His eyes
widened "cousins? That is certainly going to be difficult. Aren't they
very close?"
Saibra pursed her lips, "Mmhmm." She lifted her shoulders, "It makes
me look like a careless goldrider, letting the bloodlines get so
close, but I had absolutely no idea. I was as shocked when L'pin and
Cyradis told me as everyone else was to find out."
"You have no fault Saibra," he said taking her hand. "There is no way
anyone could have figured this out in advance and you know it."
"We know that, but people love to talk." Saibra said before shaking
her head. "Anyway, I don't want that to ruin our outing today."
"Let's give them something to talk about," he said as they walked out
into the Weyrbowl. "Like this," he smiled and kissed her passionately
in front of everyone.
Saibra's hands automatically fisted into the front of the
bronzerider's coat. When they broke apart their breath wafted up into
the cold air between them in little puffs, "Well, that's one way to
keep warm," she said, loosening her scarf with a smile.
He grinned as he heard a whoop from across the bowl and waggled his
eyebrows at her. "See," he rubbed noses with her. "Now they have
something else to talk about."
"Just wait until you're here full time," she grinned. "Which reminds
me, are you going to take your own weyr here?" It wasn't something
that they'd talked about yet, whether they would be living together or
not.
He turned and resumed their walk tucking her hand into his elbow.
"That depends entirely on you," he smiled. "I would love to sleep in
your furs every night, but I will understand if you would rather not
of course." He patted her fingers. "If you need some space for others
to crash at times, I'll need my own furs."
His last comment caught Saibra offguard. If she had shown up to see
R'enh, and some woman from his past had slept in his bed that night,
she would have been crazy with jealousy. "No, I don't need a space for
others. I would like to have you home, every night."
"In that case," he brought her gloved fingers to his lips. "I will be
there... every night."
It was Saibra this time who looped her arms around R'enh's neck and
went on her tiptoes to kiss him ardently. "I can't wait."
"Well," he said when he pulled back. "We'd better get flying or I'll
have to kick K'yne out of your bed."
"Maybe we'll find a private place to keep warm while we're out," she
winked as she went to Chioneth, who was crouched and waiting to help
her rider board.
He chuckled and then jogged toward Mnoranth. He mounted, and strapped
in so he was ready to follow her into the air.
}:I am glad Mnoranth will be moving to Dragonsfall. I like him best
out of all the bronzes.:{ Chioneth revealed as Saibra settled into her
straps.
**Then why didn't you let him catch you in your last flight?** Saibra
wondered, sometimes her dragon could be so fickle.
}:Because Erdenth was just so clever in the sky, he is a good mate,
too.:{ Chioneth replied before adding, }:Besides, all of the bronzes
at Dragonsfall really belong to me anyway.:{
Saibra laughed and shook her head, **Leaving none for Onnyth then?**
}:She can have what's left over.:{ Chioneth sniffed. Saibra knew what
that meant, the senior gold knew that the junior gold would be rising
soon, it always made Chioneth more possessive than usual.
**Let's go, we don't want to keep Mnoranth waiting.** She urged her
dragon, who in turn lifted her wings and with a leap had them
airborne.
