Saibra pushed aside a weather chart that she'd been notating on as she heard footsteps leading up to her office.
"R'sedel," she smiled as the greenrider entered.
"In the flesh," the greenrider said with a cheeky bob of his head as he came in and sat down in front of Saibra. "What can I do for you, Weyrwoman?"
Saibra held up a small slip of paper that had three names listed on it. "This is the list of Candidates who did not Impress at Chioneth's hatching and they have expressed wishes to be returned home. I'd like for you to be their transport."
R'sedel rolled his eyes, "What? Why would anyone ever want to leave the Weyr and go back to that sad, depressing Hold life?"
"I suppose our way of life isn't for everyone. One of them is young, I believe she's probably just homesick but I cannot convince her to stay a little longer. I even offered to send her to Dolphin Cove for their gold egg, but she was insistent on going home."
"Doesn't she realize that they'll just think she's damaged goods?" R'sedel didn't have a very high opinion of Holds. He worked as a Searchrider, and thus he had seen and met a lot of hidebound holders in his day.
Saibra lifted her shoulders, "She won't see reason, and I won't keep her here against her wishes. If she wishes to go, she can go. One less mouth we have to feed."
R'sedel barked out a laugh, "Ha! I like the way you think!"
The Weyrwoman hid a smile behind her pursed lips. "I also hear that you are K'reyel's brother."
"Half-brother," R'sedel corrected, "and I know what you're thinking...."
Saibra lifted her eyebrows, waiting to hear what she was thinking.
"How did _I_ manage to get all of the looks? I know you're thinking this face," he waved a hand toward himself, "would be much nicer to wake up to after Chioneth's flights."
The goldrider couldn't help it, she laughed out loud, trying to imagine the look on K'reyel's face if he heard his brother. "I had heard that you were a piece of work."
R'sedel's smile was all teeth, "Please tell me K'reyel told you that, because I've already told him that I got the looks in the family."
Saibra chuckled and shook her head, "No, but word of you has gotten around."
"Ah," R'sedel stretched out his arms and folded them back behind his head in a reclined fashion, "it is good to be me."
"I'm glad to see you are in good spirits after River Bluff." Saibra said, thinking that she could really come to like this greenrider. There were enough sour faces to go around, having a laugh and being a little silly was a nice reprieve.
R'sedel waved a hand, "No use crying over spilt milk, so they say. I can't change what happened, so I might as well move forward and continue living."
"A good attitude to have," Saibra observed.
"Yeah, it drives K'reyel insane. I am glad that we're back in the same Weyr just so I can annoy him." R'sedel's grin was unrepentant.
"Well, no matter what he says, I bet he's glad to have you back too." Saibra said, handing the list of names over to R'sedel.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that." R'sedel stood and collected the names and tucked the slip of paper neatly into his front shirt pocket. "Later, lover," he called over his shoulder to Saibra as he sauntered away.
