Description: R'enh takes Saiba out for her birthingday.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 25 of Turn 8
Saibra was excited to be going out, even if she was turning
_thirty-seven_. Just the thought of being so close to forty made her
feel panicky, but there was little she could do about getting older,
it was certainly better than the alternative.
For the evening she was in a flowy dress, the skirt of which had
peek-a-boo colors hidden within that only showed when she moved. It
had been her birthingday gift to herself, since it had cost a pretty
penny from the Weyr's seamstress.
}:Mnoranth is here.:{ Chioneth said, pleased to see the Dolphin Cove
bronze, even though she'd just been flown by Erdenth a fortnight ago.
R'enh was dressed in a blue suede tunic that matched his eyes and had
made one of the seamstresses blush when she'd seen him try it on. It
fit him like a glove and he smiled as he dropped down and gave
Chioneth a deep bow.
Mnoranth greeted the gold with a nuzzle as R'enh went inside. "Saibra?"
"In here," she called, grabbing a warm cloak to go around her
shoulders. When she looked up she smiled, looking him over with
appreciative eyes. "You clean up nice, bronzerider."
"So do you," he smiled back at her then reached for her hand to twirl
her in a circle. The skirt flared revealing it's colors. His smile
grew, "that would be lovely on the dance floor m'dear."
"Wouldn't it though?" she agreed, running a hand down over the fabric.
"So where are you taking me?"
"I thought we'd go to the Harper Hall tonight. They're having a party,
and all the ranking riders from Dolphin Cove have been invited. There
will be the very best music and dancing. How does that sound?"
Saibra's eyes lit, "The Harper Hall! That sounds great, a nice treat
from our usual tavern." The Weyrwoman had no problem enjoying an
evening in an alehouse, but a Harper Hall party was not to be missed.
"I trust you won't mind lending me a ride? Chioneth is heavy with
eggs."
}:Not _that_ heavy.:{ Chioneth snorted, but she knew her rider wanted
to ride with Mnoranth's.
He smiled happy he'd pleased her. "We will take very very good care of
you this evening Weyrwoman," he lifted her knuckles to his lips.
Promises of more than a ride on a dragon in his eyes.

They arrived over the Harper Hall as the sun was beginning its
descent, casting brilliant, orange streaks across the otherwise blue
sky. Below them, Saibra could make out a few other dragons who had
already settled in to wait while their riders enjoyed the party. She
pressed back against R'enh, enjoying his warmth and support as they
made their descent.
Mnoranth glided in for a gentle landing taking great care of the
Weyrwoman as he'd promised her lifemate. Then R'enh threw a leg over
and slid down his flank and reached up to help Saibra down. "Looks
like a nice party tonight," he smiled.
"Yes it does," Saibra agreed, taking R'enh's hand and then holding her
skirt down with the other as she slid off Mnoranth's neckridge. She
slid her hand to the crook of R'enh's arm as they walked into the
Hall, which was alive with colorful decorations and music.
"Did I tell you you're beautiful tonight love," he leaned over and
said into her ear.
The feel of R'enh's breath sent a shudder down her spine, and she
felt those tingles that she only experienced when she was with the
Dolphin Cove bronzerider. "Yes, but I love it when you do."
He squeezed her gently and led her in toward the receiving line. Once
they were through and into the hall he smiled and led her to the dance
floor. "Shall we dance?"
Saibra followed R'enh onto the dance floor, observing some of the
other talented dancers, they were harpers after all.
"They're good," she said to R'enh.
"Yes they are," he smiled. "But so are we." Then the music started and
he pulled her close.
Saibra smiled, her feet automatically moving to the rhythm, matching
R'enh's steps as they moved on the dance floor. R'enh made it easy for
her to forget about the other people around them.
He moved with her into the pattern of the other dancers. Once he had
watched them a little he fit into their pattern and swept her around
the floor in an acceptable imitation of their steps. He smiled down
into her eyes. "No one here holds a candle to you Saibra."
She didn't agree, but she loved R'enh for saying it. "Nor to you," she
had noticed the appreciative looks women, and some men, sent in
R'enh's direction. What wasn't there to be fascinated about when a
dashing, bronzerider was around? R'enh was the stuff that holder girls
dreamed about when they were growing up.
He held her close against him and didn't even see any other eyes but
the pair in the face of the Lady in his arms. When the dance ended he
dipped her and then lifted her upright to walk off the floor. "Are you
hungry?"
"Famished," she replied, a hand going to her stomach. "I fasted for a
week to be able to fit into this dress," Saibra teased.
"It was worth it," he grinned. "And I'll be happy to play ladies maid
later to get you out of it."
She leaned in close for his hearing only, "There's something special
on underneath as well."
"Well then perhaps you should unwrap your present before I unwrap
mine." He handed her a small box.
Saibra's eyes widened in genuine surprise, "R'enh, you shouldn't
have." She took the box, fingering the bow on it as she looked up at
him.
"You know I like making things for you," he smiled back down at her.
Opening the box, the Weyrwoman's eyes lit at the sight of the silver
ring with a turqoiuse stone setting. It wasn't a Master's work, but it
was beautiful, and the time that was spent in its making was evident.
"I love it," she said, slipping it onto her finger and then leaning up
to R'enh for a kiss.
"Happy birthday," he whispered against her lips.
